Risk of homelessness
4 years ago
So back in July me and my family made the quick decision to pack up hoping to move due to a new landlord with a bad rep taking over, unfortunately with the pandemic the waiting list for a house can take months.
But as expected we are now being evicted in May with a non fault possession, which to me feels cruel as we've been here for years and kept up with everything ;u;
Any advice on what steps we can take? I'm hoping something will come up soon so we can get out of here, I cannot wait to see the back of this year đź’”

ArchTeryx and DragonDream21 are very sound advice to look at as well. Stay safe, and if you need someone to just vent and or chat to feel free to bug me.
We all wish for you and your family to be safe!
Second, I would advise that you and your family try not to panic. I certainly understand how frightened and uncertain you must feel. However, you do have almost seven months to find an alternate housing situation. I would suggest looking at both rental houses and apartments in the vicinity of your area, since that will expand the amount of options you have. And if you and your family have pets, I'd 100% suggest looking for rental properties that allow them. Barring that, you could certainly look at long-term hotels until a rental property opens up, of course making sure you pick one that allows pets if needed.
And when you and your family are emotionally ready for this, I'd also suggest confiding in extended family members and close friends about your situation, and asking them if they know of any rental housing that may be opening up soon. Asking can never hurt, and it may very well make you and your family aware of opportunities to get out of this situation that you hadn't known existed.
As I stated before, I'm unfortunately no legal expert, nor am I an eviction expert, so my advice on this matter is limited. But I would definitely suggest starting by speaking to a legal consultant, as well as making full use of the seven months you do have left at your current residence to make a game plan and get out of there.
Again, I'm terribly sorry this is happening to you and your family, and I hope everything works out for you!
I'd agree with sorting out somewhere you can stay temporarily. Someone mentioned staying at a campsite or caravan park, and i thought that sounded like a great idea. If all else doesn't work out.
Be safe, and i'm hoping things turn out alright.
And Thankyou dear! It’s a lil scary right now with the uncertainty but I’m just counting my lucky stars that we have 6 months ;u;
At least there's the whole six months to figure SOMETHING out ;3;
