There's an old film called Jason & the Argonauts. Although little more than primitive stop-motion models, I don't think their interpretations of the harpy were inaccurate. Perhaps you could check it out?

well thick thighs and you can chose how will be their wings eheh you could thinks on a feathery figar XP
the wings are something that change drasticaly between artist
i recomend you search pics about not harpies, about gryphons and hippogriffs to see how they use their wings and move them to the arms :3
you could not give any thumb to the wing [some add them but most of time is hard to apply and makes the draw a bit less cute]

in other cases i could recomend search "avali" they are like bird-raptors but have a extreme similitude with harpies they could give you much to learn and grope~
