Where the Wild Things Are

So
cargoweasel summed up the experience of seeing Where the Wild Things Are perfectly: it's my nine-year-old self up on the screen, with all of the neuroses and weird kidlike impulses that adults forget kids have. But Spike Jonze remembers what it was like to be a weird little kid, and puts that right up there to relive. The movie's a reminder that those feelings of alienation and joy and wildness, of wanting a private little hiding place, of needing to belong and be accepted... those feelings never really go away. They're just raw and exposed when you're 9, and that's what you see in this movie. Raw nine-year-old emotions blown up to Wild Thing size.
So yes. I loved it. It shook me, but it's worth it.

Unfortunately the Wild Things look like giant hydrocephalic muppets.

OP
Well, since they were built by the Henson Creature Shop, and they look exactly like they did in the book, yes. To me, that's not a bad thing.
