If I'm honest, I probably don't see them in reducing the bill, but they could put you unto a payment plan of some kind? If so, then at least you'll know when you stand once you sorted out how much to pay and when to do so. 'hug'

They had an option for a payment plan thing on their billing section, but the unfortunate issue there is, even the lowest payment plan they allow is still more than I can afford.

Hopefully so. It's not like you don't want to pay them period, it's just that your circumstances are different from most other people. No doubt they probably did have people on Social Security in mind, but by default they'll just try and quote the highest price at first to see if they can get that amount first. Like everywhere else in America, they would want to try and get as much money out of people as possible. But I can't see them not acting on reason, once they know all the circumstances. 'hug'
