Movie the Sonic 2
Greetings Mortals It's been several days since the premiere of the Sonic 2 trailer and I'm certainly very excited about this version of the hedgehog. Something that video games can no longer achieve in me. (Sorry Sonic Frontiers, you don't cause me any emotion).
I'm pleased to see that production is taking Sonic's legacy into account. The film wields its own lore, but is riddled with video game references. The scenes in the trailer reminded me a lot of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. And although I'm sure the movie is not going to adapt these video games, I'm content to see how they use these elements to tell a new story. Jeff Fowler and Tyson Hesse are doing an excellent job.
Another point I want to highlight is that I can finally see a development of Sonic's character. Something that video games and previous series almost did not do (I don't consider comics). Already in the first film we could see an origin of the character and how loneliness was affecting him. In this second film we can see him learning to be a true hero. I don't know what you guys think, but that's great to me. Something curious, considering that Sonic was always the character that I liked the least in the franchise. These movies could change my opinion of him.
I understand that Paramount has plans to create more sequels and will gradually add new characters. This is good, because adding many characters in a single movie would end up overwhelming the viewer and give little development time to the characters.
The Sonic franchise is a gold mine if they know how to exploit it properly and I think this movie series has managed to find the right formula. Of course, one misstep could bring everything down, but they would have to be very foolish to allow that to happen.
And to finish, I'm going to say one thing about Sonic Frontiers: I'm not interested. XD
I'm sorry, but after the Sonic Forces fiasco I vowed that I would never be fooled by a nice trailer again. I'm going to wait for the game to be released so I can take a look. In the meantime, I'm not going to say anything more about it.
