Update: NOPE abandoned. Immediately. No Buzzly. Censorship alley, literally all forms of my nsfw are banned there now. No matter how good of features they have, their policies are shit. I feel extremely uncomfortable existing on this site, and the community keeps asking for more n more to be banned. I don't feel like being harrassed over frikken art.

FA+

I remember hearing that the admins are super strict and inconsistent with some of their enforcement, though, so I would be worried about posting some of the things I draw there, but I'm tempted to give it a shot and just not post questionable art there.
Ups
- Customization is A+
- Planned Features of Tag Filtering and Multi-account under one email (So you can have an Adopt account and main account for example)
- INcludes ARt, Audio, Literature, and 3D Model uploads
- Good Rating Filters that I can turn off and on individually
- Fetishes are NSFW content and not General Rated
Downs
- No video uploads
- Learning Curve for the Customization Aspect
I definitely miss DA some days, but I think I've checked on it maybe six or seven times since March of 2021 and it doesn't seem to have improved. I really do think if they had taken more time to work out the myriad of bugs and performance issues with Eclipse before The Switch, or really buckled down and tackled major issues right away, it would have gone a lot better. It was just a perfect storm of DA losing a lot of its identity with the overhaul, a lot of people not liking the new look, them copying a lot of things from other sites without fully understanding what they were doing (I LOVED that DA had a "message center" with all the art, comments, faves and everything else in one place, it was so convenient, but now they want everything to be "feeds" like it's Instagram or something), the overly aggressive Eclipse simps that were busy white-knighting in the journals whenever anybody tried to offer criticism or voice concerns, and the fact that a lot of stuff... just doesn't work well.
I still, to this day, get weird lag when I try to type anything on DA, which is why I stopped commenting and replying altogether a few months before I just gave up (that, and most comments came from bots and spammers because real people didn't seem to want to fight with it either). Also I don't like how any sort of scroll-by counts as a "view" and all the statistics are rounded instead of exact, makes them pretty much useless.
Enough about that, though. I've seen a few more people posting about BuzzlyArt but it's mostly just announcement journals, nobody's really followed up on it afterward though. No major issues with performance or anything yet, outside of what might be expected from a site in beta?
I like the idea of tag filtering (I wish more sites would just copy Weasyl in that regard), and saying you can turn off rating filters individually makes me think I could, say, restrict sexual content/nudity to "general" but allow "mature" when it comes to things like violence and profanity, for example. I get the feeling a lot of my art would fall into a weird grey area when it comes to "fetish or not" though, I grew up in the 1990s with weird cartoons so a lot of what I draw, I understand to have fetish appeal, but not be blatant "fetish art". Hence why I was worried about the moderation there, I like drawing cartoon animals with big butts and colorful underwear, and I think it's a good idea to post that sort of thing online because I'm weird.
I really do appreciate just how much effort you put into your site reviews and recommendations, thanks! It looks like something I might join if I get bored and explore a bit. I would really like to find another "general" or "all-purpose" art site like what DA was.
Anyway, on paper I guess I can see the point of such a rule, for restricting content that might fall under "zoophilia" or something, but I feel like in practice it might cause trouble for anyone who goes so far as to draw realistic art of canines with their little sheaths or from certain angles where their butts are visible, or certain poses like the "play bow" that a dog does might be considered "presenting", or in my case, how I draw some characters like my feral Red Panda a bit on the "thicc" side so he has a bit of a booty.
While feral NSFW isn't a genre I have any interest in personally, it worries me a bit that unless they clearly define what they won't allow, a lot of other content could be prohibited if rules are interpreted a certain way--a baby with the same fashion sense as Tommy Pickles or a puppy character without a shirt being seen as "sexual", for example.
Let me know if they get back to you about that, I'm not personally someone that needs (or wants) to have a dozen different sites to keep up with so if this seems like a deal-breaker to many I might not bother with it. If it's just one weird exception, though, I may proceed with caution. I know DA has rules about sexual content and I'm pretty sure FA prohibits nude photos so hopefully it's just some poorly-worded phrasing.
Honestly, You can't ban Feral NSFW on the basis of "Cannot consent" if you allow every other type of NSFW content such as Snuff, Gore, murder, Non-Con, Hypnosis, Tentacle rape, ect. while also allowing certain ferals to be safe to draw. It also sets up a very bad precedent of promoting "Fantasy is reality and if you draw it you are doing it". Where would the censorship of fetishes end involving a spiral like that? Imagine any fetish you see in art applied to irl. Look at the problem Patreon has with them Banning more themes of NSFW art each year because "Some people don't like it and that'd be bad in irl".
I know that if they do NOTHING with the rule, I'll be ending my time on the site 9and pissed), and if they Ban Feral Outright I'll also be leaving the site (but won't be mad at em because they'll have a probler stance there). I'm a Feral Fursona, and I won't be going through the same thing that happened on FLO. The only thing that's going to particularly get me to stay there is if they allow feral nsfw. They're building a blacklist tool so people can filter, so it really frustrates me that they're banning content that folks would have simply just filtered otherwise. Why make a filter tool if you aren't going to let people curate their own feed?
Tl;dr it seems like the rules for this should be covered by general rules for sexual content and not really need to be distinct, or just briefly and directly specify that art depicting sapient creatures engaging in sexual activity with non-sapient creatures is prohibited.
I have to admit that I don't have much at stake in regard to that particular rule so whatever my opinions are on the matter probably aren't relevant. Their justification of "this content might offend some users" is what worries me more, the general idea that they might prohibit certain themes or genres based on that is quite worrisome. If the comments I used to see on DA about banning specific fetishes (or all fetishes) are anything to go by, that could be a very slippery slope.
(I sorta get the feeling that, by restricting my viewing to "general" and "mature", I might be missing some things you've posted that might be directly impacted by this rule? I have to plead ignorance on that point, I'm approaching this subject from a more "general" point of view.)
The "consent" argument is a weird one too, because while we can all agree rape is bad, fictional depictions may be justified as part of a story, and in the case of role-play the consent might be established out-of-character. This is what trigger warnings and mature content ratings and content filters are for. Yet, unless I've missed it, I don't see any rules about consent or lack thereof at all.
Extending that argument to things like violence, or even outright fantasy things like hypnosis is just kinda weird... My roommate was telling me an artist he likes was kicked from Patreon for posting hypnosis art because "it's non-consensual", which seems rather absurd to me. If I remember correctly, the artist he was talking about uses hypnosis more for comedic effect or depicted it in a more cartoon and silly way, it wasn't even overtly sexual in any way.
On the plus side... I do appreciate how they offer a simple, clearly-worded explanation underneath the legalese for their upload guidelines. I realized once we started discussing this that I hadn't yet looked at the ToS, merely the site itself to see if I might be interested in trying it at all before investing time into researching ToS and other details. Sorry if that made discussing things difficult.
It is sort of nice to know there's someone else out there with no problem with the idea of humanoid x anthro and anthro x feral pairings, though--the prevalence of hybrid/kemonomimi types in my art means the anthros and humans are getting together, and growing up with things like Pokemon and Digimon I have no real issue with something anthropomorphic and something feral getting together so long as they're on the same level of intelligence and can communicate consent and whatnot. I have at least one world in my universe where anthropomorphic and feral characters would probably get together with relative frequency, but they're all sapient and adults so it shouldn't be seen as immoral for two hyena types with different body plans to be in a relationship.
Also I do recall actually really liking one of your gore drawings because of the combination of "cute" and "creepy".
Aside from all of that, do you think Buzzly might be a good site for posting less extreme content, though? I recall you had at least one other site (probably DA) where you had to sort of limit what you were posting. For someone like myself, and a lot of my friends, the site's ToS wouldn't really impact us too much since we're prudes and normies and stuff.
I feel like my own posting there would be quite limited because of their stance on all fetish art being a rating of "explicit" regardless of how explicit it actually is rather than the typical "mature". I know a lot of the people I interact with, and myself, usually have the max allowed viewable rating set to mature rather than explicit.
I think most of what I draw that's fetish, while deserving of a mature rating, is quite mild and honestly are things that I saw in cartoons growing up in the 1990s with relative frequency.
Anyways, thanks for putting up with me the past couple days, I do appreciate it.
I'd give This site a pretty darn high rating in usability despite it not being out of beta, still having a no feral nsfw rule, and only been live for about 3 months.
As someone who's been harassed and accused of being a zoophile just because sensitive pricks discovered my NSFW accounts, this fearmongering is utterly stupid.
I was excited at the prospect of a new, actually good art website. But now...
I know what it's like as well to be insanely harassed over art. These rules promote such a terrible community that further promotes the harassment too. I already saw the rift of kicking at ferals right before they also removed noncon, too.
No amount of good features will make me use a site that creates that type of community. The last thing I want is to be spammed "go kill yourself" or other such things again.
Did you get a response to that email as well?
Ups
- Customization is B. You can't move stuff on your profile, but you can use html and markdown in text.
- The Tag FIlter is nice on here because you can block tags in specific ratings (So you can block the Human tag from Adult rating only if you want)
- Can add missing tags to other's posts
- Collections feature is like a Fav/Gallery for art people make for you. It notifies your watchers of someone else's art that you add in there.
- Anti-Spam on Landing Page. Only your latest 3 artworks are displayed on front page to prevent people from flooding and pushing other artists. (Although I wish people wouldn't spam a whole gallery at once. It's one of the big reasons as to why new art sites struggle.)
- Streams have their own advertising place and are started in your settings
- Videos, Literature, and Music Uploads. INCLUDING Youtube, Soundcloud, Google Docs imbed Uploads (Like this: https://www.weasyl.com/~uluri/submi.....del-available)
- Postybirb can post to it
Downs
- If only people would tag their shtuff right. the Hyper community specifically (Fat and Muscle) never tag their content right and it's annoying as hell. I have to constant add in hyper_muscle and hyper_fat tags. Both of these specific fetishes give me the shivers. Most folks tag their content, but I have had so much trouble with the hyper community.
- small userbase. It is another site that relies on word of mouth over them promoting themselves on the internet to get new members, and their userbase doesn't grow very fast because of that. I wish artsite's would cross-platform on the more popular places so they can show their prescience to their target audiences.
- Art in only one folder at a time
As a Note: in order to grow on a smaller platform, one must interact on it. A lot of folks go to a new artsite and expect people to comment on things when they don't comment themselves. I always see "New to Weasyl" and one week later "Leaving weasyl because no one commented" when they only uploaded one day and that was it. TuT
A lot of people got on Toyhouse but it's like invite only or something? I'm not sure how I see toyhouse all the time but weasyl is rarely mentioned anywhere.
I do think any platform you move to will take time to grow an audience on. Even if you leave posts on original platform saying you are moving. I still think crossposting is better. XD
Think I'll add weasyl to list to check out in more depth. Because holy shit would I love to block some content from eye holes.
Toyhouse is invite only and NOT an art site. It is a character portfolio site, and I think RP.
Crossposting is always better. I use postybirb where I can to upload to as many places as possible.
