Hi everyone! it's been a while since I've posted a commission journal!! I hope you're all doing well!
Sometime in February, my commissions will be opened again! this has been a fantastic break and it has
helped me come to some important decisions about my art and what direction I want to go with it!
In the past, I struggled a lot with money and time, I wanted my work to be averagely priced to help be
more affordable to my usual clients and those who often buy from me, but because of this, I often
found myself having to rush or spend less time on each commission piece so that I wouldn't run out
of money before I finished the commission that was responsible for said money (ยดฯ`)
Needless to say, this didn't work, and due to mental health and other situations, I found myself unable
to complete most commissions before I ran out of money. This meant I had to take more commissions
before I finished the last one and my queue would be a slow grind that I could never finish without having to
fully stop taking all comms altogether. This would mean not having the money to pay for food and needs if we can't
afford it, and luxuries like commissions to help keep me sane and to be able to support my fellow artists.
So I did some thinking over the last few months, and with an empty queue I started working on improving
my experience with art, and therefore my commissioner's experience as well. Here's what I ended up changing!
I will be increasing my prices and changing/limiting some of the things I offer! I have cut down the amount
of commission options I offer - for now these are the options that are available (pricelist will be posted soon):
Fullbody Chibi's
Halfbody Atmospheric Comms.
Fullbody Reference's . . .
and that's it!
These comm openings will be posted via Journals and openings in my Discord Server as limited slots,
I will open around 1-2 at a time, and hopefully open slots up as much as possible - But I will try my best not
to take new comms until the old ones are done! this will help thin down turnaround times
and save me the stress and guilt that comes hand in hand with taking forever to finish a comm.
That being said, I do struggle heavily with mental health - it's something that infects my entire life, and is
always there with me in my work and my art, this can cause extreme drops in motivation, and the inability
to even draw at all sometimes. Because of this, I decided to increase the turnaround window and for my own
sake, I'll be making it 2 months rather than a few weeks. I have always tried to be as transparent as
possible when it comes to my mental health and my failings to turn around art in a timely manner, this will
be even more of a focus, and I will make sure to be as clear as possible about my current state to my
commissioners.
The most important part I need you guys to know about is that I will be spending a lot longer on
your commission than before. I am tired of producing work that I'm not 100% proud of, and I will be taking
a lot longer to refine and find mistakes. I'll always take an extra day longer than I used to so that I may come
back to the "finished" art and see it with fresh new eyes. This has been a huge struggle for me for a long time,
and I'm sure a lot of you remember times where I've sent a finished version only to come back with an edit a
day later because I found mistakes a day later when I was able to see it in a new day's light. (I literally did this today.)
This is the biggest reason why my prices are increasing so that I can spend more time creating a better-looking
piece for you without going broke in the meantime. This all will help me offer rewards more often for my lovely patrons as well!
I will also be changing and enforcing my T.O.S and fees with an iron fist! I have let commissioners ignore
clearly stated fees and T.O.S rules multiple times in the past because I'm too afraid to bring it up in fear of
backlash - but I have been guided by a friend to stop allowing people to do this to me. I will give a clear
warning and one chance for minor T.O.S breaks and will blacklist anyone who continues to break my T.O.S
or try to manipulate me out of paying a fee for the things I clearly state that I charge extra for.
My prices aren't too drastically different, so don't stress too much. My pricelist will be added sometime publicly in February!
Please note that this can be subject to changes, but for now, this is what's going to be changing with my work!
