Yeah for me it just look like a blob of lighter tar. Not jet black but still just static and flat. I like websites UIs with mid to light brightness to help keep the site feel energetic and not make the content feel like it's emerging out of a pool of tar. Some people may say that has a darker ui help keep the site from distracting you from the media files you're focusing on. But I say that the media files look way too poppy and distracting.

I kinda rather have thing feel mixed in and the UI and media attached to it blend together so I can scan and slowly attach my focus on something rather than pictures jabbing at my eyes every time my eyes leaves off the dark UI asset/background to a media piece. Lighter UI the change in focus is more gradual and more relaxing.

(Pretty much dark ui I feel like it's like me transitioning from a carpet to a floor made of legos when using Dark UIs. While it just feels like I'm transitioning from carpet to polished wooden flooring when using brighter to mid brightness UIs.)

Dark UIs/mode is good before sleep and in late night darkness tho. Just not in most of the awaken day when I wanna keep my energy. XD

Classic could certainly be improved of course, and in fact there were some minor updates made to it when the "modern" version was released that were mostly good. But it's just sad that a site design slapped together almost 20 years ago by inexperienced 20-something nerds is still better than what those same people can manage now. Everything is going backwards.

Greymuzzle is itself an old-fashioned term now. Comes from a different era when cons were the center of the fandom. Ironically our gen was the one to kill that by shifting most things to the Internet. And as far as I can tell the zoomer version of the fandom is a panic-attack-inducing never-ending avalanche of vague, disconnected bite-sized dopamine hits. Gallery sites like this are dead. Nice, convenient catalog sites like the boorus are dead. Image boards are dead. The only way to communicate with your fellow zoomers is through the corporate-mediated propaganda spews of social media. Because who DOESN'T want to be bombarded with ads, scams, and constant reminders of what the ruling elite want you to think while trying to look at weird cartoon animal drawings, right? Want to look at a whole gallery? Fuck you. Want to search content constructively for stuff you like? Fuck you. You will sit in your cage and consume content from your hamster feeder, one lick at a time, because that's the best way to monetize ads.

How's that for yelling at clouds? Will the zoomers even reach "greymuzzle", or will they all have breakdowns from the cyberpunk-esque levels of psychological fuckery they're being force-fed?

I will also say, for the record, that in 2006 I thought the fandom was pretty dumb, pathetic and terrifying a lot of the time. Good lord has it ever gotten worse.

Used classic for forever, swapped over to modern, thought it was ugly and unusable but figured I'd get use to it.

Also "Theme: Retro", I like the darkish, cozy, intimate feeling of it.
