Dreams of golden fields and bunnies... <3

Last night I dreamt that there was a family of rabbits living near my house. Mamma rabbit, and two babies.
One day they where all chased down and carried off by three vultures. I was walking home from the shops when I found them sprawled out under a willow tree in the middle of some old farmland.
At first I thought they where dead until I noticed one of the babies moving very slowly trying to sneak its way back home. The bird knew where the rabbits where (thy put them there) and where flying around above. It was one tree in the middle of a field.
The mother rabbit was missing her right ear and was very badly beaten up with chunks taken out of her. The two babies just looked scared. One had a limp, the other one was terrified but otherwise fine.
There was 150 meters between that solitary tree and a line of trees which the rabbits would be safer. Problem was, it was 150 meters for three injured/exhausted rabbits to run.
I picked up the two baby rabbits, put my head down, closed my eyes and started to bolt for the trees. I called for the mother to run too. She tried to run near me so that she would have some shelter but her injuries stopped her from getting very far.
Did I mention the vultures where magical?
Well, when they saw me running off with their dinner they tripled in size and started trying to take me down. So, it was in a way quite fortunate that mamma rabbit couldn't keep up. The vultures where distracted by the temptation of a meal that couldn't fight back, so they took chunks out of her until she stopped moving and died in a red puddle.
By the time the birds had finished with their prey I was only 20 meters away from the tree line. It was then that I realized I no longer had one of the babies. The one with a limp was so frightened that he wriggled his way out of my arms and was left alone and disorientated on the ground 10 meters behind me. I turned around just in time to witness the ball of fluff being plucked from the ground by the smaller of the three birds, which had caught sight of me, and started to make a bee-line right for me!
So I ran.
This part of my dream was a blur, I remember that distinct feeling of breathlessness, and I remember the ground was soft and dusty, the kind of ground that is hard to run on. Damn South Aussie dirt.
By a stroke of luck I made it home without a scratch and with the bunny in my arms.
I had held it too tightly during the panic. It was dead.
