Dictatorship...US in next

Weather your for or agianst vaccinations is a mute point. What should concern everyone is HOW this is being handled. Yesterday the House of Commons was suspended and Trudeau now has the ability to seize anyones assets for SIMPLY having an opinion or showing support.
So you are for the mandates. Maybe you see this as a win. Wait until these same measures are used with something you dont agree with.
How about if Canada decided to make porn of any type illegal. It's not far fetched as Australia has some sort of law regarding this. Your found with a yiffy furry collection on your phone.. Boom everything gets taken away.
HOW this is being handled should be very concerning to everyone. Your win today can be your detriment tomarrow

Being that the furry community is the one community where it is OK to be singled out and made fun of by 'normal' society, (you should hear my sister go on in spouting what she thinks we are) what you have outlined is totally possible. Will we be required to wear a paw print upon our clothing?
I had a conversation with a good writing friend the other day, and he pointed out to me that to do what we do, we actually live in our own little world. He spoke the truth. I enjoy living in my own little world, but as in the case with Joseph Stalin, those who are different from the party line (meaning his party line) are suspect, and subject to things not normally discussed in the open.

Of course the bright side is that there will always be those who fight for the rights even if they dont.
Not only that, but whether or not you agree with mandates or not, they are ending shortly. They were starting to make unreasonable demands like the resignation of the PM. I'm not too well versed in Canadian politics but that's much like asking the President of the US to resign.
Additionally, the police have been handling this with velvet gloves compared to how I've seen police handle other protests, especially civil rights protests, in recent history. I wish US police were this professional, really.
I do agree that this whole thing sucks. Whether vaccine mandates are necessary is a complex issue and I'm not completely on either side of it. It's kind of a trivial thing though when you think of all the real problems this world has. There's that old saying that can apply to these people, when you don't have big problems, the tiny ones start to seem huge. Their lives are relatively free of trouble so they see a vaccine mandate as a huge deal. Well, it's really not.
Still, though, their original demands were to end mandates. But once they saw mandates were ending they didn't leave and started demanding the PM resign. I bet if even if he resigned they'd come up with something else to continue camping for.
I'm all for the legal right to protest, but holding a city under siege for weeks at a time is something else. The authorities have been incredibly lenient when them; had this happened in DC sadly I think things would have gone a lot worse for them.
And before anyone brings it up, I disagreed with protestors holding Seattle under siege two years ago too. You can make your point without disrupting a city and making life miserable for residents including those on your side for weeks at a time.
As I remember Trudeau's father did much the same thing when he was PM against a specific class of Canadian citizens.
As I remember the Charter of Rights came into being after Trudeau's father pulled some shenanigans against a given class of Canadian citizens.
Growing up in a border town where we mostly got Canadian TV channels out of Vancouver I remember the some of the stories of what was being done by Trudeau's government party at the time.
When you went to primary school, was it mandatory to get a meningitis vaccine? Was it mandatory to get measles, mumps, rubella vaccine? Was it mandatory to get a vaccine for any other diseases that puts a child at risk? If the answer is yes, are these still mandatory? If yes, then why is covid vaccine mandatory, NOT ok?
In fact, before that happened pretty much all anti-vaxxer types were very few in number and tended to be extreme left wing types, and those of us on both sides thought they were nuts.
Seek a problem, create an exaggeration, cement fear as a reaction then sell the solution.

While nothing is perfect..I'd prefer a well vetted vaccine. I have no issues with other vaccinations. There is a high degree of confidence and in the beginning... no one knew how the covid vaccine was going to turn out.
A government is NOT a doctor...
I am perfectly fine with personal choice. Ya want it... great..go for it. Me? I just want to wait to see the results of everyone else and see what happens. Its experimental.. not vetted.
It is not an experimental vaccine. This is right-wing propaganda that's been spread around for over a year now. I can't believe you're parroting this junk, I thought better of you.
The vaccine got plenty of testing. Nearly a year of trials before it went to the public. And before that the technology was being tested and developed over several years. mRNA vaccine tech didn't start with the pandemic, it had a several-years head start.
Heck, I wouldn't want to be first in line for a new vaccine either. But there were millions of people who volunteered so that we could see it was safe for everyone.
Please understand the difference between propaganda and actual science/research.
same time there were people coming out from trails messed up and people died of blood clots and some people were developing the baegere syndrome..
Then there is the added weirdness of why are they shoving this down our throats.
My position was always a wait and see and eventually get it when there is a better product of it.
Reports from the left and the.right gave cause for alarm
I can honestly and sincerely tell you that I have been vaccinated, twice and a booster shot and all I got was a sore arm and a headache and that's it.
My parents have also got the shots and my football club mates and managers and they're totally fine. No blood clots, no health issues, nothing.
I actually waited for several months to get my shots and I did it after my parents got it first.
I used to have this belief that "I just want vaccines to be safe". But this is the thing antivaccine advocates signal but never confirm, because they don't want you to know how much progress vaccines have made. I should know this because I'm friends with a immunology expert. She tells me that vaccines have made huge leaps of progress long before the pandemic. How else did we eliminate Smallpox?
People are still studying covid and as with anything we know more today then 2 years ago.
oh the I cant spell that side effect jon Bashir? It's one of the immune responce syndrome as my Dad came down with it 20 years ago was in the hospital for a while.
As for covid, I understand the wait. What's problematic is how so many people are treating the pandemic like a political football. Its a waste of time and effort to play the blame game.
Literally NO government should have that much power, it's just dangerous. The politicians the bootlickers are supporting right now are not going to be in power forever (assuming there will be no election frauds). And they better hope for the new ones to be honest enough not to use that perfect tool they were given against their opponents.
And this all over a vaccine which isn't even working as well as it was advertised before, against a disease with really high survival and recovery rate. And at the time when it developed a significantly milder strain.
Also - completely ignoring actual scientists who published several research papers on how restrictions against unvaccinated don't really work and have no public health justification. But a drama teacher knows better, I guess.
I'm so glad now I live in Poland, for some reason our government didn't go full crazy on covid and they don't want to put any harsh measures because they're afraid of their own voter base :D And even these really moderate rules they have put are being dismissed by the courts as unconstitutional, because our courts seem to still care about constitution even in a crisis time. So exactly how it should be.
(What is actually a BIG surprise to me, sure PL's gov did a lot of stupid things during these 2 years but I expected them to do FAR more stupid things :D)
Yet we still have some deluded people who scream that PL should do what Canada/Australia/France/Germany is doing. Boi, GOOD thing it is that they have no power.
No ones forbidding anyone from getting the Jab.. if it makes them feels safe goody for them..whoo hoo. They are protected..so really if a person doesnt want it.. they are just hurting themselves.
