No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. Forgiveness is vital to fostering long term relationships and communities. Due process is a vital part of our justice system. People are not excommunicated entirely based on rumors or out-of-context quotes. Trials also are not private affairs where only one side gets to make a case. Our justice system does not work on indefinite sentences except for heinous acts like multiple murders. This is an age-old lesson we've built into society and should embrace more. Slights, real or imagined, should not be held against people indefinitely. All of these things are the tactics of sociopaths seeking to manipulate and control people. Likely to cover up their own crimes.

Forgiveness also means making an attempt to amend matters. Continuing to harass and slander people is only going to deepen divides and make everyone bitter. You can dig in your heels and continue to hold a grudge for years and try to inflict everyone around you with that grudge and be miserable, or you can open your heart and try to build bridges. Even if you don't agree fully with a person, turning a minor difference into a bitter feud that spills over into the broader community is isn't just petty, it's malicious. An act tantamount to bullying. A community built around bringing people together to celebrate our differences being exclusive based around rumors and accusations is against what it mean to be furry. The very people that are engaging in these witch hunts are accusing people of trying to exclude people, yet that is exactly what they are doing, creating imaginary enemies to exclude people.
