First off, all of this is still valid and active, and I hope to see new patrons to add to the wonderful people I already have. https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10140664/
Secondly... Man, the world is a crazy place. Rights being infringed, countries being invaded, people placing comfort over the survival of others... I wish I could change the world, I really do. But to anyone out there feeling hopeless and powerless, I give the piece of wisdom I learned from video games of all things:
Everyone is their own world. If you can't make it better for the entire planet, if you can make it better for even one person, you have saved and changed the world. Obviously we all wish we could whisper in the ears of the powerful, or take swords from the hands of tyrants, but if even one person is having a better day because of something you have done, you have changed the world for the better.
I was a teacher (before the education systems changes burned me out in one fell swoop) because I thought that way, and I saved more than one from suicide. That's more than one world still going thanks to my help. I write and entertain and talk to people because everyone whose day I brighten, everyone whose smile I create, who I can make laugh, cry, think... those are entire universes modified just a little by me.
The world is a scary place. The problems in it are large, larger than any of us can hope to tackle on our own. But working together, one heart modified at a time, we can change the world. So don't give up hope because the scale of your work isn't enough. You do more than you will ever know.
... Anyway, sorry to be so serious in this journal. I've just been thinking hard the last week or so. I shall also get back to writing for all of you. My heart goes out to all those suffering in the world: victims of war, poverty, and discrimination. And though I cannot help you physically, I hope, somehow, in some way, I can ease your burdens just a little.
Sincerely yours,
~Sin
