interest in old work?
A question brought up by a viewer about why don't I post more of my old never seen work. My reaction for not doing so was, in no small part, the old fart resting on his old laurels/faded glory kind of thing. And I have gotten a few snipes in the past about just that. But, I'd like to know, would there be interest in diving deep into the sketchbooks and such for "unpublished" work? I wouldn't post EVERYTHING, as that would include thousands of pages of doodles or practice sketches of dubious view-ability, as well as some levels of embarrassment. So, any thoughts?
I'm actually curious, who would you cite as your major influences in the realm of comics?
You are one of the OG Furries, one of the "founders of the fandom" as it were. Your work was one of the first furry comics I ever read, and I was caught; hook, line and sinker!
I've never looked back in regret, save to wonder where some of those artists went. So yes, I for one would definitely appreciate seeing it!
Would love to see it!
You're SERIOUSLY Old-School, bro., so most of us here probably haven't seen the vast majority of your work, so it'll all be pretty much new to us... Y!##'n A-, dude, lot of furries probably weren't even BORN back when you were -THE- name in furry art. For those of us who WERE around back then, it'll still be a neat nostalgic trip.
Go For It!
...but that's just my opinion.
Mike Kazaleh has been releasing a lot of old doodles for a while and I'm really enjoying it.
If the old art was posted with stories of why it is of particular interest to you or who it was for, where it sits amongst your other artwork (maybe growth or chronographically) or any other interesting tidbits... this adds to the artwork and makes it a part of the whole great story which is that of one of the original and greats of this community. As others have mentioned, you are one of those whose art helped many of us discover this whole anthropomorphic world of art and stories.
Hell yes!
Plus it might encourage people who feel their old work isn't worth it (which a lot of times makes them feel bad about newer stuff) by having you show people all the stuff you feel wasn't the best. The fact is all of it helped make you better.
