Sadly looks like he is sticking around. Arcturus can't do anything about it since they are stuck in a lease and they would have to pay both halves of the rent to even be able to leave which is about 5k left for the rest of the year.

The roommate left his job for another but hasn't gotten a new one yet so it's been Arcturus that has had to foot all the bills to even have a place to stay. The roommate is a pile of trash leaching off of Arc (and can get a violent temper) and there is nothing they can do about it. Can't even get the guy kicked out since the landlord can't do anything about it either. So all we can do is just wait for the lease to be up near the end of the year and get a safer place to Arcturus to live.

Are they going to be pressing charges? Especially since theft and damages are involved. Police can do something about it. Or they should be able to do something about it at least. Also the landlord can serve a 30 day notice of removal to the tenant, and when that time is up they need to get out. Unless those covid law things are still in place in their area.

Also these types of situations can also anull lease agreements in terms of dangerous living conditions. Especially if your friend files a retraining order against the room mate.

The landlord tenant laws that allow you to break a lease are different from state to state. In many places, you can get out of your lease without penalty for a number of reasons, such as domestic violence, an unsafe environment. He already qualifies for these, since the environment is far from safe.

It's Alabama state law and they have already gone to the landlord and all they said was they had to pay the 5k and then leave. Not sure what they could do. :c

Ouch, it sucks that each state has so many shitty laws. That protect terrible people instead of the people who really need it.

The shitty people are the one with power who make the rules to help themselves stay in said power to keep benefitting themselves. :c
