Quick question for my watchers

Currently closed for story commissions! See this journal for details if you want to look anyway.
Haven't done a journal in a while, thought I'd ask.
I found myself wondering this afternoon: does it bug you guys that I post my stories in .doc format that you have to download to read?
I mean, I'm not fond of .txt format since you can't do too much by way of emphasis (I loves my italics ) other than surrounding words with *asterisks*. Not to mention that my stories range from medium length to really really long, so it would probably be annoying to have a huge story stretching out the page and requiring much scrolling to get to the description and comments.
But one of the major problems with being a writer is that people often don't want to take the time to read a story, and I can't help but wonder if there's anyone who skips my work because they don't want to take the extra time to download them and read them in Word or Works Word Processor or whatever. I got a note once from a person who requested the text from a story since he was way into the subject matter but apparently didn't have a program that could read .doc files. (That's not quite the same thing, but it would be a bummer if there were people who wanted to read my stuff but couldn't, and then didn't bother asking me for an alternate format, eh?)
On an unrelated note, it's kind of annoying how Word 2007's default formatting is .docx, whatever that means, which FA does not support. I have to make a point of saving stories in "Word 97-2003" format to get .doc's.
Anyway, now that I've asked, I'll finish this journal, since I appear to be going off on tangents again.
Xornal máis.

FA+

but here's the thing, if you want to post a txt on here and keep your italics. then just use word to save as an HTML, and then post that. It'll have the tags in so it will still DISPLAY as italics when you post it on here and it lists it out.
just a thought.
A part of a good story is how it's presented. If its devided right, it means easier reading.
btw, please do more Eric and Milo!
One thing for me that makes it work better is reading through some of your longer bits and having to leave it for a while, to the point of actuall closing and coming back at it tomorrow. When in the doc format, I can see exactly what page I was at without having to test the "page down" button. Kind of a fringe reason, I know. But it works for me.
BUT, I do prefer the .doc files over the .txt files. Reading it in the browser is just... bleh. :/ You have to deal with the FA text/background format, which I don't quite like myself.
Basically, I read these sorts of things one-handed(if you know what I mean), and it is far easier to get the text to a readable-from-a-distance size through a .doc or .rtf(which is what I myself use) than having to download, copy the resulting page, open up wordpad, paste, highlight the text, and then resize or change the font.
Takes a lot less time, for one thing!
Would be a nice website though, you could include supportive content like guest art and such with your stories. That would be lovely.
Good luck finding a solution mate!
I'm not fond of having to read a story within a web browser unless it's absolutely necessary or I really like the writer's work. I appreciate being able to quickly download it and save it for later perusal, or at least having that option available without having to go out of my way to copy, paste and save it.
But, on the other hand, the convenience of reading it right on the page is good to.
Is it possible to do both?
