Most people who still use Twitter will probably have heard the news that Musk has essentially bought the platform, and for a good number of people on my feed, that means that they are hunting for new places to socialize.
My question is: If you're moving to other places, where exactly are you deciding to head to?
I do have an Itaku profile now (---> https://itaku.ee/profile/jonas-pride <---), since a few peeps mentioned it --seems-- like a good alternative, but I'm curious to know if others are heading to other places, like Mastodon.
I'm not opposed to remaining there, but I do not find myself feeling any confidence with this buy-out (I'm skeptical at best that all the horrible parts of that site will actually -improve- with the new management, considering that Musk seems indifferent to artists in general), and it'll be interesting to see where this all leads, and if becomes another Tumblr situation.

FA+

Facebook has old relatives youâd never see otherwise, Messenger your family insists on using, and Oculus tying you down with hundreds in game purchases. Twitter has none of that.
Having an opinion on that, to me, just feels like an ant having an opinion over a boot.. the few people who abandons ship in moral [or whatever] protest will ultimately not make a difference-
I've seen it happen right here on FA, again and again. Every time something happens, there's scores of people 'leaving' to other platforms, only to come skulking back in the dead of night a few days / weeks later. Twitter, like FA, is a self-sustaining singularity by this point- people can try to leave but FOMO will just pull them back again...
Dislike Musk, like Musk... Ultimately it's futile imo. This won't change much in the grand scheme of things, but my personal breaking point is if he lets 'ol 45 back on the site, that's when I'll just... stop using Twitter entirely lmao, I don't care enough to find something else.
And there you go, the ant's opinion on the boot xD
I'm fine posting elsewhere, as well, but I mainly post to FA or Patreon at this point. I actually need to update some other galleries on other websites, but I've been pretty bad at keeping track in other places. x_x
Oh! That posty-birb app! I know tons of folks use that to multi-post across various sites. You know it?
And, as with all of your knee-jerk pronouncements, you will have zero proof of this. Unlike your hero the ex prez, who was caught out in over 30,000 documented lies over the period of his presidency alone.
Dude doesn't know me from Adam, is a MAGA soyboy that aligns with the 'free-speech' party, but immediately blocks anyone who even dares say a single bad word against his precious Tangerine Palpatine
Makes you wonder who the snowflakes really are, huh
And you've gotta love the hypocrites who attempt to proclaim "Free speech" from one side of their mouth, and then try to ban books and silence voters, teachers, trans people, and other LGB folk and people of color with the other.
I've had multiple people who I've never spoken with or said a single bad word about and harbor absolutely no ill will towards block me for what I can only assume are my political views, and then had Ashki literally say that it's "My kind" that blocks people, when I've never blocked anyone.
It will be interesting to see if anything improves, or if it gets worse. I suspect the latter. Surveillance capitalism needs to die anyway. Guess we'll see.
The only thing we currently know is that Musk now controls it as a private company.
That's it. That's all.
Twitter is full of folks running in little circles declaring the sky is falling, but I have yet to understand why. ( Unless I missed some grand announcement he's going to go full Tumbler. )
I doubt anything changes much for some time although I think I read somewhere he may be interested in some sort of verification system to keep the bot accounts out. THAT might be an unwelcome change to those who don't want their real name associated with the art they create.
( Hell, we might even get an edit button out of it )
Most people look at Musk and feel a sense of wanting to distance themselves from the guy, and I agree he's not what you'd call -someone you want to be friends with unless you want something- type. His reputation definitely puts people off. He's also in the "posted art is free-game" group when it comes to digital artwork, so that chafes a bit too. Art theft has been going on for a very, very long time (even before the scummy "En Eff Tee" bullshit), but since he's the trending topic de jour, it's easy for people to target him for their aggravation.
If he manages to improve Twitter, without changing it too much or actively tearing down accounts because they disagree with him or actively mock him, then I'd say it's not a bad thing.
Either way, I'm probably going to give other platforms a shot, regardless. Hence attempting to use Posty-Birb more.
I'll wait to see how it affects anything first.
