I hardly use twitter myself, just another spot to post occasionally. Alternatives would definitely be nice though, given buyouts never adhere to the passion of the original project.

I -DO- sense a mass exodus coming, either way, though I doubt it would be enough to really hurt Twitter because of its sheer size.

You’d be right if there were any friction to leaving. Most of not all the artists I follow are in other places. Other content (memes, games, politics) aren’t unique to Twitter either.

Facebook has old relatives you’d never see otherwise, Messenger your family insists on using, and Oculus tying you down with hundreds in game purchases. Twitter has none of that.

I've seen it happen right here on FA, again and again. Every time something happens, there's scores of people 'leaving' to other platforms, only to come skulking back in the dead of night a few days / weeks later. Twitter, like FA, is a self-sustaining singularity by this point- people can try to leave but FOMO will just pull them back again...

Dislike Musk, like Musk... Ultimately it's futile imo. This won't change much in the grand scheme of things, but my personal breaking point is if he lets 'ol 45 back on the site, that's when I'll just... stop using Twitter entirely lmao, I don't care enough to find something else.

lol Fair enough! -- Twitter for me is little more than a site to advertise to for streams, and I occasionally get a small taste of what people are talking about or what news people are reacting to.

I'm fine posting elsewhere, as well, but I mainly post to FA or Patreon at this point. I actually need to update some other galleries on other websites, but I've been pretty bad at keeping track in other places. x_x

I've had multiple people who I've never spoken with or said a single bad word about and harbor absolutely no ill will towards block me for what I can only assume are my political views, and then had Ashki literally say that it's "My kind" that blocks people, when I've never blocked anyone.

Twitter sucks, particularly for art. It will continue to suck.

It will be interesting to see if anything improves, or if it gets worse. I suspect the latter. Surveillance capitalism needs to die anyway. Guess we'll see.

Twitter is full of folks running in little circles declaring the sky is falling, but I have yet to understand why. ( Unless I missed some grand announcement he's going to go full Tumbler. )

I doubt anything changes much for some time although I think I read somewhere he may be interested in some sort of verification system to keep the bot accounts out. THAT might be an unwelcome change to those who don't want their real name associated with the art they create.

It could be just an overreaction, for sure. And those people who jump ship now probably were looking at other places to post, anyway.

Most people look at Musk and feel a sense of wanting to distance themselves from the guy, and I agree he's not what you'd call -someone you want to be friends with unless you want something- type. His reputation definitely puts people off. He's also in the "posted art is free-game" group when it comes to digital artwork, so that chafes a bit too. Art theft has been going on for a very, very long time (even before the scummy "En Eff Tee" bullshit), but since he's the trending topic de jour, it's easy for people to target him for their aggravation.

If he manages to improve Twitter, without changing it too much or actively tearing down accounts because they disagree with him or actively mock him, then I'd say it's not a bad thing.

Either way, I'm probably going to give other platforms a shot, regardless. Hence attempting to use Posty-Birb more.

Never used twitter, so doesnt bother me in the slightest ive only heard the terrible side of it like with, the cancel culture or that one person who tried to get people to cancel, Spy family, because the main character blushing as her father pictures her up is "Sexual"

I have enough in my life to deal with.

I'll wait to see how it affects anything first.
