It's been iffy for me, it worked for you but didn't for others. It's weird.

Yeah Boosty really does not like paypal when you buy something from it. But when you donate its somehow fine? I tried to buy a ych slot but it just kept saying error. The only thing that works (sort of) is the donate button. Only issue is the amount you're trying to give since boosty's system is inaccurate on the amount of "rubles" (aka Russia's currency for those who don't know) you're trying to give.

It only works on Microsoft Edge for me.

I've sent money through it a total of six times without issue-
Though that was for a total of two commissions and one tip.

All of them have been through the "donate" option with PayPal, none through the tiered things
Boosty seems to have issues with singular large payments as I've heard through friends, that's how two commissions and one tip equals six whole payments - i haven't sent a singular payment valued over 6000 ruples
(Not sure if that's the limit before issues start happening or not, but it's what I've been able to do without issue so far)

I haven't had any problems, I know some have been saying it is a transactional limit thing to prevent fraud.

It's been off and on. I had to try a couple times to pay a friend for a commission, suspiciously it failed several times the days before they jacked the rates up.

Boosty worked for me. USD to RUB conversion on the first attempt; this was about twenty days ago. I also use Opera browser on a Khazakstan VPN when buying with USD-RUB, usually. My bank never said anything and neither did PayPal.

However, I would be careful on calculating the price of art when listing it in USD as the current climate is so dynamic that a simple 0.001 change in RUB value can dramatically effect the real USD conversion. I think Google is inaccurate on how rapidly it updates as an artist charged $55 USD for something that when translated to RUB, actually cost a total of $68 USD because sanctions changed the value within 24hrs. Not a fault of the artist, but instead the fault of a rapidly changing market.

I imagine it will continue to be iffy due to sanctions; a Western bank could just as easily interrupt a transaction simply for having Russian characters mentioned in the bank statement as PayPal could interrupt a transaction for the same reason, not to mention the fact that PayPal is sending USD to an avenue that converts to RUB ... which is technically by-passing sanctions. I don't even know how it works to be honest on Boosty's end, but I guess it's legal and the responsibility of Boosty lol.

Hopefully it continues to work. I don't know how Russian artists can get by without it if their customer base is mostly Western.

I've used Boosty, and it was fine. No problems here!

I had to pay another artist through it and it was a high $ commission. What they did was make a tier/category<(I am not sure what it would be called) with the amount and my username and I paid it that way rather then donating.

I think it was some kind of Exclusive post that you can make a link for.

When trying to add my bank card it would fail each time

My phone number was too long for their validation, so I contacted their support and showed them, which line in the frontend had to be changed. At least the support seems to be faster than what I'm used to elsewhere.
