Genuinely horrifying. And i'm very lucky to be 'safe' from this issue for the most part, with a very understanding partner, but I'm still scared and more so for the afab people who aren't as lucky.

Yeah, when it comes to what people do with their bodies it isn't really anyone's business. Let people do what they want safely, you take those rights away then people take drastic measures in their desperation

I find it hilarious that they want to go backwards with so many things, YET they want the newest phones, high-speed internet and streaming services, and all the modern drugs to cure everything more than 2 sneezes.

People cheering this on demanded their body autonomy because of a vaccine for as recent virus, but they're happy to restrict body autonomy of others thanks to this repeal.

They're reasoning is the Rare part of the "Safe, legal, rare" compromise has been violated, so they're now violating the Legal part of it.

I don't know how those guys keep getting women supporters. You'd think they'd all have jumped ship after their front man said that thing.

The worst thing about this is that aside from the fact that these hateful fucks have been trying to do this for decades, the other half has pretended to not see the blatant red flags and warning signs and did absolutely nothing to protect the ruling or the people protected by it.

It's just fucking disgusting every way you look at it. When we can't make the world more peaceful, we can try to bring peace within ourselves. The foreseeable future promises to be wild no matter what happens around us, but I think on a personal level things could improve. I'm optimistic for the ability to rise to the challenge and do good things! ^^

Agreed. That really is something that applies universally.

I have spent 24 years fighting and agonizing over things done in the name of 'progress' or 'safety' that ended up being ineffective, utter disasters, or quick fixes that brought problems of their own. Some things came from one party. Others came from another party.

People cheered whenever something passed because it fit them at the moment, but reverberations from their decisions are still present. They moved on to the next outrage topic without a thought for the result that didn't affect them and left their opponents holding the bag (sometimes for generations) all in the name of petty revenge or temporarily feeling better.

Like you have mentioned in another comment, the people making that public decision are likely to find ways to avoid applying it to themselves. It's an unfortunate part of the development of the system that protects corruption.

What really gets me is that both sides of the divide moan about how their nation's freedoms are enshrined in a certain document, but they have worked for years to undermine and change that document to suit their needs (going so far as to ignore it when inconvenient).

I guess they want to have us believe that anything could change at any time and previous decisions were just suggestions (despite the formal nature of the decisions made and the system meant to protect those decisions).

Hoping the people making the final decision have sense enough not to set a new precedent where anything can be changed at any time for any reason.
