some interesting food for thought on ASD policy in Canada...

Just as I was about to go to sleep this came out today from the canadian health advisory board. 6 months late but it did.

While ill be long gone off into the spirit world before any benefits are drawn for this (If we can solve the "correction" vs "accommodation" treatment models; or "heterogeneity" issues across the spectrum; or biomedical vs emancipate approaches--enough to convince the government to spend more money at least.)
It puts into perspective as to how far Canada is on this issue and how broken we are when it comes to getting support. the report even references the fact that 63% OF ALL WORKING AGE OF AUTISTIC ADULTS IN CANADA ARE ON SOCIAL ASSISTANCE for crying out loud.
(and we are hated for that).
but its a start I guess...
Like I said in my chat room. By the time any benefit is derived from this work It wont be relevant because Ill be too old to partake.
Plus we have the whole Idea of the current Ontario government wanting to force all of us back to work at some point through mandatory "life stabilization process planning."
That and unless you are intellectually disabled here they basically medicate you until you start vomiting blood then leave you to die if you have any issue at all. hell I cant even get a single goddamn CBT session from the Gov for the CSAs I had when I was a child in the system. (and we are a universal health care country)
All because they don't wanna spend the money and are doing their darn best to avoid it with endless drivel about sociological debates....
