So, I want to post more info about my characters, but...
I'm a small bit afraid to?
I have a LOT of work I put into all of my OCs and I want to share it with others, but at the same time because some others did...
-Had one person try to steal Bacent (My blue tiger main OC) and try to claim it as their own back in 2009
-Had someone get a bit too interested, where they were editing my commissions without permission
-Had multiple people only say sexual things about my one female OC, even when told to stop (Haven't gotten anything of her since 2016 cause of it pissing me off)
I've mainly told close friends more about my characters, but I do want to share more.
Anybody have any suggestions in how I could possibly get a little less uneasy about it?

I'm really nervous about this myself, which is why I don't post much of my OC's either. I'm scared that the ones I've already posted have been posted to other sites with people claiming them as theirs.
Since I'm not very popular I think it'd be hard for me to prove they were actually my OC's.
So believe me, I get it. I'm right there with you.
I'll get out of that mindset eventually (I hope)
I guess all we can do his hope for the best, and we do have come close followers that know the truth. Ultimately once it hits the internet there's not much we can do about it anyway. I for one would like to see more of your work and OC's, but it's still a tough fear to conquer. That being said, I supposed the more we get and the more we show it might be harder for someone to take it without anyone noticing.
Kinda a self-fulfilling prophecy in my case; I'm so scared of theft that I don't post much...which turns around and makes it easier for someone to potentially take it from me. It's our stories, and our characters, I guess it's something that the world would like to see, everything has a risk, right?
The foreword and most obvious..but also the hardest advice is....just dont let it bother you. As annoying and tedious as it might be, block people who make you uncomfortable...and either give them a warning, or slap a "No Creepy Comments allowed" sticker in the description.
I know this isnt a solution to Character theft & Art editing...The only way to stop that at all is to stop posting art all together...and thats not a solution anybody wants.
Just...there is no solution there besides never sharing your art or your characters altogether.
How long has it been since these incidents? Have they been happening recently?
I wanna say just go for it...maybe start with a less popular character to test the waters.
Then, if you feel comfortable release in on the others.
Im a sucker for learning about characters and their worlds; simple or complex. So Id be pretty excited to see if if you ever do :)
I know my post probly wasnt too helpful.
Stay Safe
It's any time I show my bat, Lossa, to certain people that they start going full lewd on her (Even when they know I'm gay and don't like any porn that isn't gay). Also gotten a few messages in the past from random people about that stuff too
Also there's a couple characters (My rampardos and moogle) that I have an easier time posting about. But stuff like my bat family I have a TON of work in, even got family lore about them going back 20+ generations (Same ones that the person was editing pics of them to put on physical things he owned, and started editing them while just showing interest, then going 'oh btw I've edited a bunch of stuff wanna see what I got?'
Just I REALLY want to talk more about my OCs but feeling all bleeeeh about it
There's no perfect answer, and it does come down to you, but I generally think keeping a cautiously open mind is worthwhile.
