Basically, how its used. Europe is a construct, as most things are. The continent is Eurasia, and the dividing line was arbitrary, to the point of such nonsense as "Asia Minor" and "Middle East" being buffer zones and places for Orientalists to fixate. Slavs are on the Europe side, though run all the way through Asia by way of Russia. But Slavs weren't considered white, not really. Neither were Celts and Gaels, depending on time and place. Thanks to King James the I and VI, Scots had more leeway but the Irish were not white, in the constructed sense. Mostly because they were Catholic, depending on time and place. Are Italians white? Spaniards? Greeks? Not according to white people. Depending on time and place. Guinea dago wop. Greeks were considered nonwhite by the British into the 70s, as shown in an episode on Are You Being Served? when a white British woman unhesitatingly calls a Greek man a wog after he stands her up. Asking about Europeans is a smokescreen because you're not going to engage the question of southern or Eastern Europeans and the Loki's Neck question of where you cut.

I'm just saying the whole concept of racial identity is so nebulous at this point that there's no real point in clinging to it in any way shape or form outside of national identity. It's a similar problem I have as a black person who sees other blacks obsess over the "motherland" when most native born Africans look down on American blacks. I've always been a bit nomadic when it comes to who I am and don't really fit into any collective "identity". And that's how I treat most people instead of collectively labeling them due to a few malcontents in the group. Well I don't disagree, as you can see. I shouldn't have to say this but sometimes it helps, stating the topography of a controversial landscape doesn't mean I did it or that I agree with it. But I do judge groups if they're sufficiently distinct. It's reductive as Hell, but if there was a local "Let's kick puppies" club, I judge them. Constructed races are too large and variable to be that definitive, but you can get enough granulation to pick out and blanket condemn sections thereof.
