3.5 Months After Surgery and 2.5 Months After Radiation
3 years ago
3 1/2 months ago, I was diagnosed with a major right frontal lobe brain tumor that I had no previous symptoms for.
It was excised via partial removal of my cranium and a laser ablation of 97% of the tumor. The remaining 3% was too close to the artery to operate on safely, so follow-up radiation therapy was necessary.
Pathology of the tissue revealed no cancer.
1 month later I received a treatment of a high precision radiation session lasting about 5 hours called Gamma Knife. Because of the highly localized section of what remained of the tumor, a highly precise procedure of exposing the tumor area only to varying angles and time frames to a decaying rod of Cobalt-60 was strongly recommended per the determination of my oncologist and my neurologist. It's a very interesting practice that you should look up. I found it very interesting.
Since then, my condition has continued to improve. My interest in alcohol has waned down quite a lot, my desire to be more attentive to my relationships and my work have gone up tremendously, and my interests in maintaining my home has also drastically increased. My sciatica has significantly reduced, my energy level has gone up, and my appetite is 4 to 5 times what it was pre-surgery.
I'm much more interested in participating in.... well... my interests. My emotions are still present, but much more stable and well balanced.
Welcome to neurology.
