Just wanted to let everyone know things are gonna be a bit difficult IRL for about a week.
Unless it's canceled last minute, my mom's having major back surgery on the 7th, so
she's gonna be anxious as heck, and there'll be last minute stuff to get her ready. I'm
also going to be a bit down, because I just found out an RL friend passed away after
a long battle with cancer.

OK, some advice, so listen up. My Gloria went through major back surgery. When your mother comes out of surgery she will be bedridden for at least a week. That's when she will need you. Some hospital staff are very good, and others are not worth a fig. There will be times when you will have to lead the team in turning her. There are a few tricks to it, but also you will have to be aware of the pain your mother will have to endure to do this. Be strong for her.
On your friend's passing. This happens (for what ever reason), and in remembering them, we keep them alive for that period of transition they've made. We are sad, but sadder would be your friend if they had no one to remember them.
