Heard-Depp Defamation Trial Concerns

To reiterate what I revealed a year ago, I'm a survivor of abuse. This trial may discourage more survivors to speak out and encourage more abusers to sue their victims in US states they never lived at the county level which allows public streaming with authorization from a judge. Remember this was a defamation case, not a criminal one, but it was still reduced to trash TV thanks to trolls and Republicans on social media. Society was shaped by abuse and abusers have actively been reinforcing the status quo throughout the trial.

She was a victim of toxic behavior, but she was also an instigator. Although Heard and Depp will survive the verdict financially, the trial itself may set legal precedents that can further regress public understanding of domestic abuse. Survivors who are less fortunate will bear the brunt as a result: those assigned female at birth who already endure institutionalized sexism where few would mind, and those assigned male at birth like myself whose abuse isn't taken seriously.

Oh, I agree that the trial became quite the circus show for everyone to pick apart and pretend like they know anything about law. It certainly made it seem less serious than it really is. But I am glad for one thing, that abuse against men has been recognized and judged. For a pair of celebrities like them, it is pretty minuscule, considering the lawsuit was for 50mil, but my hope is that at least this encouraged male victims of abuse to seek justice for what's been done to them and that the legal system will look at their evidence under serious lenses.
