So, has anyone out there read the Redwall books?
I was next to the "World's Biggest Bookstore" yesterday and saw a used book store next to it...found a few of the Redwall books for cheap and plan on reading them!
Thing is, I'm not sure if there is an order they go in! Doesn't appear to be. (I bought "A Tale Of Redwall" books.)
Is there an origonal series that I'm missing here that I should read first?

To be honest, there really is no particular 'order' in reading these books. They're their own self-stories- and at least one of the gripes I have with Mr. Jaques is, they are too formulaic for my taste.
Sure, it's nice to have a good read (which they are) and there's a happy ending, but ALWAYS a happy ending? Sheesh :P
Which are you reading?
Have yet to start reading them. Have a few other books to go through first! :)
I've Read Martin the Warrior, Mossflower, and the Outcast of Redwall.
Currently reading Rakkety Tam.
I'd start with Redwall or Mossflower, personally.

Yes, they are formulaic. Yes, there is always a happy ending. But consider that these are intended primarily as children's tales, even though adults enjoy them as well.
I think my only gripe is that he spends a few too many words describing the food. That is, at most, a minor gripe.
If you're looking for an enjoyable escape from the mundane world, I heartily recommend these. If you're looking for hidden meaning and deep intrigue, don't bother.
