My first con (RBW ^^)
So, I have returned from my first ever convention!
I had a great time. n_n I was a little nervous/shy at first, but thanks to
twinklestah and others, I settled in quickly and really enjoyed myself!
My highlights:
- Fursuits!! I've only ever seen them in pictures before, but gosh, in real life, they are so awesome. Adorably cute and fuzzy :3 The fursuit walk where we paraded around London for a while was possibly my favourite part of the weekend, just cute, fun and happy, plus awesome to see the range of suits, and see the general public interacting with them.
- Meeting new friends and like-minded people, including delph_bunny, magnus_streifengrauer, bhavfox, sci, Ikkarub, and more, including a very fun american guy named Moosimus. XD It's hard to find people IRL who share my interests usually, so having a group of them in one place was kinda awesome. :3 Everyone was so friendly. ^^
- The art! The dealer's den was not as full as I imagined but I got awesome sketches from Sci and Bhavfox and a very cute sketchbadge from Sketchkat. Although I thought some dedicated drawing time would be a cool thing to have at the con, on the Friday night Cally, myself and others just sat around drawing for a while anyway, and last night Cally and I had a preeetty random drawing session in our hotel room. XDD
- The boat party! Very fun, amazing views on the boat, good dancing (not too crazy for this panda, of course), and talking with people.
- Umm, everything else. *tired out* XD I just want to go to more now! More! And maybe have a fursuit someday. ^^
Yeah. Maybe I'll attend some London furmeets soon anyway as I'd like to meet up with everyone again. :] And I feel much inspiration for more art now, which is also good!

I hope we get to meet at a future con!
Hopefully see you about!
Awsum you had great time there! And got you interested in fursuit possibilities ;3
Also, cool you are feeling like arting! I can't wait for more Xandy-art ^^ <3
Hope I get some time this week to doodle more also, ack, and should be making father's day cards too :S (next Sunday is the day here ^^')
I'm finally back home from work and ALIVE and eek, yes! So fun and silly ^_^ I don't have much else to say right now. <3 but eeeep...the pictures are steadily getting put on Flickr ;)
I showed people at work the photos today, they thought they were pretty awesome even if they didnt quite get what was going on. xDD
My friend (the only other girl I work with) loved the costumes, especially the gryphon! She just thought it all looked pretty and fun ^^
The others were kinda giggling at the titles and stuff and asking how Cally and I met and saying it was cool.
There was ONE guy, actually, he's a person who knows me quite well but he read the wikipedia link I gave (to explain furry conventions XD) and mentioned the stuff about 'ohh they dont let cameras in' and saying it's a fetish >_< so he was a bit weirded out by it, which kinda surprised me! I've drawn him animals and stuff before, so hopefully he doesnt think its all about FETISH. XD
But yeah I don't care what people think so much now. XD I posted a thread on the UKFur forum yesterday just asking why people wear fursuits because I was interested in everyone's reasons and it's very clear that they aren't about SECKS for the majority of people. XD So yeah! People just gotta be open-minded, even if it is something they don't know about. I think if you educate them a bit, they might not find it so weird.
</long comment!!>
That's good that most of them had not a negative reaction. It's too bad that one guy just couldn't get past the fetish aspect. It's so hard for people not in it to get it, I suppose. There are so many different angles to look at it from, and while there is that sorta naughtiness to it somewhat, the underlying theme of the entire fandom (besides furries, of course!) is just this general openness about everything. Like, everyone just seems so tolerant of everyone else's quirks, be they fursuit or fetish. At least that's how I feel. I think if he knows you well enough, he'll know it isn't all fetish.
It's good you don't care about what people think! I'm really getting there for the most part. I told my boss I wanted a fursuit! :D I would actually be interested to read what fursuiters say about having a fursuit. I gather it isn't all naughty, ya! You're right, it really isn't that weird. It's about FUN!! You don't really look at people who dress up as Jedi or Stormtroopers or Klingons as weird (for the most part) and Renaissance Faires are pretty much mainstream now and no one questions anyone wearing those outfits. It's just the fact that the media has exposed the dark side of the fandom before anyone even got a chance to know the rest of it.
Not that I'm saying I don't like SUSPICIOUS PICTURES, mind you... :D
I've never been to a con (well, not a furry one). Furnal Equinox in March will be my first.
