Alan is eating a jelly filled donut, proceeding to show the reader a box of about a dozen more
Alan: "Donut?"
Reader/YCH: "No thanks, do you have any fruit?"
Alan: "It has purple stuff inside, purple is a fruit!"
Proceeds to bite the donut, splattering jelly everywhere in front of him and crying afterwards.

Personally, I have never liked jelly donuts. I would personally go for a chocolate glazed donut. Also I would help clean the place with a napkin and tell you not to cry about the mess as you didn't mean to make it.

Nothing will stop me from at least trying. I will try to comfort him for however long it takes, so long as neither of us pass out from exhaustion in the process.

I can imagine. I have had my fair share of people getting extremely emotional. Can't imagine using that much energy at once.

Yeah. Though you can be overwhelmed with emotion, that doesn't mean its a bad thing. It just shows how much you care about something or someone.
