Guess who caught the Rona?

THIIIISSSS GUUUUYYYYY.....
Ugh.
So... my mother and grandfather had tested positive back in July, but recently recovered fully. We tried to stop the spread within our household as best we could- wearing masks when walking around the house, using separate restrooms, keeping our distance, washing our hands often, and sanitizing everything. I foolishly hoped that'd be the end of it...
On Sunday I went over to a friend's place to hang out. I had done a Rapid Test before I went and it turned out Negative, so I thought I was basically good to go.
Monday night rolls around, and before I go to bed, my throat suddenly felt SUPER dry. No other symptoms. So I just assumed either it was just the really hot, dry weather doing shit to me.
Then this morning I received a text from my friend where she confirmed that she and several others tested positive for the virus. When I mentioned the sore throat, she said she also had that. I panicked and took another Rapid Test, only for it to turn out negative again.
So I just kept naively thinking, "Eh, probably just the heat. I'd probably have way more symptoms by now." But later that day, when I was feeling a little bit hotter around the face, I decided to take my temperature... and it was pretty high... a 99.2 F. My family members confirmed that is basically a fever, so I stopped by one of those PCR drive-through testing sites as per my friends' recommendation, since she said they were "more accurate" than a Rapid Test. They said the results would come in that night or in the morning, but when my mother got home, she decided to do another Rapid Test on me JUST in case...
It wasn't Negative that time.
So as I suspected, the test in the morning was bullshitting me.
I don't know if I got it from someone in my friend's house considering most of em got sick, or if I got it from one of my family members since on Friday Night I did have a nagging headache that gave me trouble sleeping and persisted until Sunday... for all I know, I could've accidentally gave it to them. Maybe all the Negative tests were false. I don't fucking know, I'm not a virologist, I dunno how long the incubation period of this thing is supposed to be per person.
But yeah TL;DR- I tested positive for Covid.
Guess I couldn't dodge it forever <:I
Also, for the record, yes we are all fully vaxxed!
Aside from Rona troubles plaguing our household, I also have been preoccupied working on another animated collab piece that is supposed to be due at the end of the week, but the organizer was gracious enough to give me an extension.
I'm so sorry for the slow progress on the commissions and I appreciate the patience of those who are still waiting on their pieces. I promise once I get the aforementioned animated project out of the way for the month, I will get back to work on them!
In the meantime, I'm gonna try my best to take care of myself, while also trying to grind out more stuff when I can

And yes, the PCR tests look for the actual virus. The rapid tests are looking for an immune response to the virus, so they both lag behind the infections, AND they're not very accurate. but they're fast and cheap to make and use.
Get well soon!
Thanks, dude~!
