any pointers on how to PAINT decent seawater?

no need for an extremely advanced one, just something that will look decent ^^;

cannot absorb everything if i dont have the basics first...

Start with a base shade, then add some horizontal lines and "flicks" and dots and stuff, all parallel with each other in a darker color. Maybe add some white-ish dots on some of the darker lines that are closer to the viewer. The farther away the water is, the more subtle the darker lines get, until they pretty much disappear.

This is just based off of my own observation though, I have absolutely *no* practice with this. Maybe it could help? Dunno. :P

Green tints; sea water's usually green. Reflective, so whatever the color of the sky and any light sources are will affect the surface in little specks or highlights, usually in a line of specks to the center of the pic from where the light source is. Look at pics of water (Google is ur bst frnd) to get a general idea and practice, go nuts on some speedpaints

I'm just doing this to be funny. Though just take the drawing and chuck it into the sea, wait. Then hope that the sea parts of the drawing suck up the sea's color. Easy as pie. X3

I'm thinking like cartoonish ways. X3 Like if you wanted to color something like the sea. You'd actually go to the sea, stick the paper in the water and the sea's color would get sucked into the paper, thus automatically coloring the sea parts of the drawing. Heh.
