Fair, I got into Imagine Dragons almost 10 years ago when they did "Radioactive" which I discovered thanks to Defiance's live action trailer :) and "Shooting Stars" when I was doing my radio course and was told to put something poppy in my show plan, asking advice from a younger student I was told try "shooting Stars" and I got hooked
Bones also works from a GM point of view, for me at least due to some of the lines, specifically "My paticence is waning is this not entertaing ?"
I have a very eclectic taste in music, more the songs than the artist get me, before I had to rebuild my iTunes (something I'm still doing) I had stuff like some good old classic rock (Queen <3. Black Sabbath, AC/DC and Aerosmith), some 90's rap and dance, Classical, Chants, Hip hop, Steampunk.
Not much modern music intrests me these days but the odd gem gets me,
The only music I detest is ABBA, but thats mostly bad memmories from when I worked weekends in a student supply shop and the Supervisor on with me ALWAYS hijacked the CD player to play nothing but ABBA for 6 friggin hours.
Didn't help she was often late and hungover so she's 'sort stuff out' upstairs while she recovered leaving me to somehow do the milk order, both sandwhich dropoffs and newspapers in about 20-30 minutes before the shop opened.
So I might be a bit biased XD
Also if you meant the Hiromi - Blackbird video, that was some damn nice piano
Yeah, I'm all over the place. A look at my front page shows a list of some of the things I like, a pretty ridiculous range of stuff. I was brought up on sixties and seventies pop radio, although I didn't like all of it. Pop radio was much more eclectic in those days, though. A lot of classic rock, and things like folk and jazz that my folks introduced me to are influences as well. I started going to live shows regularly in about 1973, and saw just about everybody you could think of. I saw a handful great shows even before that.
Underground radio started here in SF in the late sixties, and that became a big influence and source for even more eclectic stuff. I've always leaned to the weirder edge of things.
I got into hip hop, punk, and rave stuff as they came along, as well as playing music myself since about 1969, and more seriously in about 1978, influenced by the DIY spirit of punk, etc. The stuff I do myself tends towards the more noisy, improv, and experimental end of things.
As far as ABBA, I get you there. I can appreciate a couple of their songs as classic cheesy gems, but it's really not my flavor. A lot of pop music has been ruined for me precisely because of how it's overplayed. I love all kinds of stuff, though, from ancient to the future.
The Hiromi track is brilliant, but in my reply below there are a few other things I think are particularly great. Distinctly non pop, though. Fivel and I bonded a few years ago over a mutual love of Japanese extreme noize music and other sorts of left-field stuff.
Music and song's a bit 'Pop' for my taste, but it's good.

*hangs head and ears in shame*
Edit : Even worse it's COUNTING STARS >.<
though Shooting Stars by Bag Raiders is still pretty awesome to listen to.
I shouldn't post when at low blood sugars so I don't cock up like this XD
I'm not really against pop per se, but my interests tend to lie elsewhere. But I have wide and eclectic tastes.
A very recent example as a case in point: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal.....4#cid:59388725
