Wha?

Here's something that I heard a while ago that I thought would be interesting to share. I wonder if anyone will have an actual answer to it. ^^
Three people eat at a resteraunt and the bill comes to $30
Each person pays $10 each
After the waiter has taken the money he double checks the figures and realises that he's accidentally over charged them by $5
He thinks to himself that they don't know how much they've been overcharged by so he keeps $2 for himself and gives each person $1 back. This means that each person would have only payed $9 each.
Now for the math, the three people payed $9 each making a total of $27, the waiter kept $2 for himself.
$27 + $2 = $29
Where did the other $1 go?
This is a question that i've always had fun with when I hear it. There isn't really an answer, it's just something to make you think "WTF?"

Theres two different sides of counting that, this riddle take one peice from each that dont add up. :)
He must have been a shitty waiter both to not get tipped in the first place :)
Anyway yeah you're right, by looking at the question this way it becomes more understandable and you are able to get a solid answer.
