Moving Home! + Chair Recommendations
Hi guys, some exciting news!
Me and my boyfriend are moving! No more renting, we got our own flat!
Its also around a ten minutes walk away from our old place so we'll be able to move stuff bit by bit. I'm so excited, I can't wait to properly move in!
But that's going to be a lot of work, so things will slow down here for a while. Folk who have commissioned me already know. Plus I'm still working on one final illustration for the dragon dogs, but that's gonna take a while in between everything else!
My old chair is no longer very comfortable and I don't want to end up injuring myself. Since I'm moving, now might be the time to get a better one. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good supportive computer chair? Maybe one that's good for artists? And isn't too expensive?

10000% recommended. I've had mine for....six years as of about a week ago. Cost me about $600 all told. The arm rests are in need of replacement (you know how it goes with the firm foam: it eventually cracks due to repeated strain) and the top of the backrest has its pleather falling apart, but doesn't affect comfort any (I got a mid-high back, though I would recommend going for the full height if you plan on wanting some head-rest buffer).
My recommendation is to find an office furniture supply company and visit their showroom. Call and ask first, just to make sure that (1) they're open and (2) they have a showroom. And then prepare for the place to look like a random hole in the wall nearly-unlabled office in a sea of similar (eg. this is where I got mine, super un-consumer-retail looking).
You're probably going to need to spend more than you'd like, but the way I justified things to myself and my dad was "the $80 chair I got at stables stopped being comfortable after 3 months and I've had it for 3 years. I'd rather have a chair be comfortable for 3 years." I still ended up paying more than I'd liked but there weren't many options that were cheaper (and viable options). But it'll last longer. Which is kinda the point, isn't it? (Oh and I paid $525, found the actual receipt, bit less than I said).
But yeah, places that supply other businesses are going to be higher quality than your typical consumer level store, have more options, and be more knowledgeable.
The money I've saved needs to go on essentials like beds and such. So I might have to put off getting a more permanent chair until I've recovered my savings
Here is a fantastic chair at a good price. I've been using it for about 3 years now and it's the best one I've ever used. I spent some time researching and trying other ones before buying it. Really helped with my back pain. I spend about 10-12 hours a day on it.

Edit: I see they are only selling the fake leather version of it. I still have a fabric one, which is my preference, so it's something to consider. Also I will add that this chair is very good for tall people, but depending on Your height Your comfort with it might vary. Good thing about it is You can find it in most places that have IKEA and try it in person before buying. Also there's always an option of sending it back. Cheers! All things considered I highly recomend this model.

Thank you so much!
There is a similar chair, a bit cheaper, but some people prefer it and I think I remember it had to do with a person's height possibly. But also worth checking out while You're there. A lot of offices and studios go with MARKUS. I prefer JÄRVFJÄLLET personally😁.
