Fuck AI "Art" Rant 😎
It's disheartening to know that generative AI slop is infringing on the creativity and unique art styles of artists and intellectual property, something I put a lot of passion and effort into that has taken me years to improve and expand upon. It's literally infringing on art, It's like someone selling a car with a bunch of stolen parts to make that car. Extremely depressing and makes me not want to deal with people more than I have to. x.x One thing about art is how sometimes certain people takeaway the time and focus to create, when there are so many active ways that attempt to screw artists over nefariously it becomes less about the art, regardless if it is wrought from envy or ignorance ect. Quality and skill will always take time, as it should.
I am a self-taught artist that developed my style and skill like many. I see why artists just go in a hole and are brief with people. Prompts and making a freaky streamlined amalgamation of theft for a chop shop from genuine art doesn't make you an ''artist!'' If I can teach myself to painstakingly draw legitimately while I use to work 3 various jobs full time in an abusive and unpredictable living environment to get my foot through the door, so can you. I can't wait for copyright laws to catch up to this blatant theft. Thank you FA for not allowing it!
Examples of how AI functions as well as what its doing.

From now on I am not going to interact as much in the community unless it is completely business/commission/supporter based from now on. There have been many instances of people inquiring for a commission to only not follow through, but get angry that I can't talk and play with them. I am sorry, but my art takes almost every bit of time from me daily as I always seek to improve, not to mention art is a diminishable skill.
Do not say you are interested in a commission unless you are serious, and you know what you want, I don't have any more time or patience to help you with ideas as much as I used to love to. I have catered to people for a long time in a lot of ways but I am not a robot! Beep boop! I am only one person, not a corporate entity and assembly line and in order for me to have been this successful, there are many commissioners at a time for a reason, a single one at a time would not allow my efforts to be possible. Thank you to everyone who has supported my work with patience, as much as I have enjoyed creating it and will continue to until I am an old wrinkly raisin lady. <3
This is a rant. Some silly things going on has made me boil over a bit, when I have been strictly free from rants until now, xD So don't think this is at all directed towards anyone. Happy Holidays and hope everyone stays safe! <3 I am firm in these beliefs and am not posting this to be dissuaded, to each their own. It's always one extreme to another, and hate how selfish, superficial and self entitled society can be sometimes.
For those of you that promote and the use of AI to this degree, are simply deprived dip shits who are trying to bring down quality, skill and creativity for your selfishness. Effective future "tools" and capable people don't need to steal. Stop being self entitled from the talented and hard working people that developed their skills because you want everything to be convenient. What happens when the well dries up from the creators you steal from, when they're gone and no one applies themselves anymore and that mentality for the future of society and generations? Everything dependent on theft and lack of creativity seems like a shitty straight forward black and white world you helped promote and create.
Imagine that farmers do use tools and innovative machines, great! However a farmer that actually grows many various crops and lets say, hypothetically there is a ''farmer'' that doesn't grow or tend to anything as an actual farmer. This said farmer is actually waiting to use their machine to collect the crops of the farmer doing actual farming things. What happens if the productive farmer that creates stops farming all together since the market is being taken over by just simply stealing? I guess the ''farmer'' that is stealing will be shit outa luck huh?
What you so desperately want to consume stagnates or becomes unavailable or the quality and expectations go down? What if people forget how to create anything meaningful, unique, expansive, distinctive and the drive for improvement from how these tools are used or to truly apply themselves with skill and passion? Tools can be used for both good and bad. People should have consent to how their creations are used, right down to ones likeness and freedom of expression! This situation is resembling idiocracy at its finest.
Could AI be used as an actual innovative tool? Heck yeah! But not in its current state as it will ultimately canabilize on itself from a get rich quick scam from greedy billion dollar companies that think they can get away with hell that want to use it as a chop shop of slop. Just like many things being one extreme to another, it has to respect the creative process. And if you like the content you yearn for so badly, stop shitting on the people that dedicate themselves to making it for you. Use common sense instead of being blindfully self destructive. ✌️
Anyone who uses or promotes AI un ethically to steal from the works of others, need to stop following me and will be permanently blocked and black listed. You are not an artist or creator of anything. We are not the same and are definitely not welcome. Can't wait for regulations.

FA+

Nor do they care!
All they think is, "Its data.. It means NOTHING.." I understand BUT we Artists have done SO MUCH for our skills. We do NOT want to waste it to computers.. A.i... I do NOT want to lose My home to a god damn computer made of pieces, and data..
Truthfully, I think we should all start a union BUT... that's just me being crazy XD
I'd comment on their pieces or profile, warning others that it's fake and done using AI. A lot of times those comments would get deleted or I'd be blocked.
Got so tired of it.. and to make things worse, DA is embracing it. They've made their own AI generator, and there's also an option for when you upload new art, asking you if you agree to let your art be used for 3rd better AI services. It's disgusting, I nuked my DA profile after that.
All of my hate. It's unfair on real artists trying their hardest to continue growing their skills. I hope this AI crap dies.
I have told some people I know very bluntly to not use anything of mine for AI work if they want to continue being friends with me.
I am self taught, and lost the ability to draw years ago from an accident, (or rather i put me back to far that I deiced to move into 3D) and seeing how little people care for the hours of effort and such artist put into their craft really highlights just how messed up it is.
The final product maters, not the effort.
Makes me sick.
Things like Stable Diffusion work with noise in latent space, which is simple but very clever principle.
Here's an okayish video explaining the basics of how it actually works https://youtu.be/1CIpzeNxIhU (in the beginning he talks about principle of training, then about generating from randomly generated noise). It's more complex than that, especially with CLIP guidance part, but i don't know a good video explaining everything.
So actual art is used during training stage only (which is obvious since you can't put almost six billion images in 4.3GB file of the pretrained model (using 1.4 version as example)). Unless you manually feed existing image to it, using img2img function (which is intended for giving ai your own rough sketches), which could indeed be a problem, since it'd be close to impossible to catch a person doing it with art they don't own.
Must say right away, that I'm not here to talk about if it's moral/acceptable to use art for training AI without permission or to argue for/against AI. I'm just clearing out misinformation.
Also, can't say for corporate AI's (you never know what they do behind closed doors), but open projects like Stable Diffusion are planning to introduce opt out feature for artists.
And there's this site where you're supposedly can check if your art was used for base model training https://haveibeentrained.com/ They also claim that you can ask for removal of your art from LAION dataset on that site. I haven't tried the site myself, so use at your own risk, but Stable Diffusion folks mentioned it in one of their podcasts (Also if i recall correctly they try not to use nsfw, so FA and porn artists should be safe anyway. Custom furry finetune models are usually trained on e621 so asking for removal of your art from there as well could be a good idea if you really want your art to not be used for training common ai models).
If AI Art becomes more normalized the competition will be very intense and will have to rely on really standing out or the compassion and ethical part to keep our business afloat.

Scenario: Mom gives kids some paper and colored pencils and says draw something. Kids say, "That's stupid. Hey Alexa, Siri, Google, Cortana. Make me a drawing of so and so. Why should we learn how to draw if a computer can do it for us?"
Then you have the people who are saying that artist are still unique. But fail to realize that these machines can learn your style. So someone shows up to get a pic done by you, looks at your prices then says, that's too much. I can teach an AI to draw that for me in their style instead. Devaluing your work and ruining your ability to make a living.
And let's not forget that eventually people will no longer have faith that what you are drawing is actually real. Let's say you get so good at drawing, people will say, OH THAT'S BS! YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY DRAW THAT!
It's almost like the developers purposefully wanted to destroy the artist, they couldn't have done a better job. My entire life I always said, that no matter what a machine replaces in human society and is capable of, they will never be capable of art and creativity.
Now I sit here terrified of what all this means.
Funny thought though, who does the AI learn from if it replaces all of the unique and amazingly talented artists it steals from and preventing the ambitions of new ones? 🤔 This isn't a ''renaissance'' for art, its the death of it in general. I would have respect for actual conscious and self aware AI art than this theft of it.
Technology has always made creating images easier and easier. Doesn't matter if it was technology or people not having to mix their own paint.
I am in agreement with the worry about identity theft and that is something that needs to be regulated but the technology isn't inherently bad.
People had to study light and shadow and then 3d packages came along and with the click of a few buttons you get correct light and shadows for "free"
Need to learn perspective? Build your scene in 3d and draw over.
Shortcuts will always be a thing and that isn't inherently bad. Art will change in the process as it has changed since its inception.
