Opinions on AI Art?

I just saw a lot of pushback against AI generated artwork on Art Station. As someone who went to school for computer programming, I think AI is very cool. I'd like to see a future where we can work with the AI art software to generate images better and faster and roll out more (quality) creative content, or allow storytellers to produce artwork for their concepts more easily. I'd like artists to be able to use the software as just another tool. I don't want to see artists lose their jobs, and I'd like to see people more excited than threatened. What's your opinion?

The reason why I watch so many people on an artsite is because I love their particular irreplicatable styles
It disgusts me that people can get away with winning art contests with something they didn't even do
Why are you defending this?
Is this AI by any chance?

I agree, my favorite thing about art is not how "good" or "realistic" something is (at that point, you can just take a photo), I like stylized and creative expression, telling stories, etc. I certainly don't believe AI art has a place competing alongside hand-crafted work as if it were handmade. Definitely the wrong way to go about it. There should be a clear distinction and honest disclosure, but, to me, I see it as another tool that would be better worked with than against. I don't think we can just ban it or make it go away (in the industry as a whole).
And, no, I draw everything by hand with occasional photo-tracing or 3D models for background elements (of my own photographs or stock art - in which case I will link the original stock art).
As someone with a computer programming background (hobbyist), it is amazing to see the work put into creating an AI like that, and seeing it pull off seemingly "impossible" things!! Very nerdy and cool from that perspective!! I can certainly tell you there is "soul" put into computer programming, it's very creative and challenging, and requires excellent problem-solving skills to be done well.
