Oh no Here's my Year in Review for 2022!
Firstly, we will begin with a breakdown of how well things did between my two main galleries: FurAffinity & SoFurry. This is a comparison of how many favorites were attained on both websites.
For Stories:
Out of 26 story submissions for the year of 2022:
18 Stories (69%, nice) were more successful on FurAffinity.
6 Stories (23%) were more successful on SoFurry.
2 Stories (8%) were tied on both websites.
For Artwork:
Out of 104 art submissions for the year of 2022:
104 Artworks (100%) were more successful on FurAffinity.
0 Artworks (0%) were more successful on SoFurry.
The takeaway here for me is that despite being an active user on SoFurry for a few years longer than on FurAffinity, the former does much worse than the latter when it comes to allowing my content to be spread and become successful.
FurAffinity generated 5,376 Favorites on my Art submissions and 372 Favorites on my Story submissions. SoFurry only managed to pull in 1,397 Favorites on Art & 313 Favorites on Stories. This is nearly 3.85 times as many favorites for art on FurAffinity than SoFurry and 1.19 times as many on FA for than SF for stories. The gap between FA and SF for stories is much thinner, but the gap is still there and in FurAffinity’s favor.
This does not hold true for views in so far as Story submissions are concerned. At the time of this writing, SoFurry pulled in 18,664 views on submissions whereas FurAffinity pulled in 14,043 views. That’s 1.32 times as many views on SF than FA. SoFurry does bring in more views, but it is not by a wide margin.
I did not track the views for artwork on either website, apart from what I needed for the Top 5 list. For the Top 5 Artworks, FA did gain more views than on SoFurry. 5,375 views on FurAffinity compared to 3,228 views on SoFurry.
Now, let’s look at the Top 5 Artworks and Stories for this year.
Here's the list of the top five stories from 2022.
1) Pulling Weeds - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/48106099/ With 104 Favs and 3,366 Views!
It’s been a while since Miranda Cheng got a story, and when I originally planned Pulling Weeds my intention was to write it from her POV like I did with the others. In the end I ultimately decided to swap the perspective to Cecil Adams’ POV as I felt it would be more exciting that way. I’m very pleased with how this story turned out, and I’m happy that it was well received and pushed to the top of the chart.
2) Friends Forever - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49408658/ With 68 Favs and 2,239 Views!
This story came about as a simple desire to write a story about a girl fucking up and ruining her chances at having a healthy relationship. A nice romp in the bedroom followed by a bitter ending.
3) Flame Forged - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49928426/ With 60 Favs and 1,762 Views!
People enjoyed the Old Flames series and characters so I wanted to add a little bit more to the series by pushing the husband deeper into the hole of depravity that is the cuckolding kink. Glad to see people enjoyed it as much as they did!
4) A Certain Kind of Swing - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49009230/ With 48 Favs and 1,846 Views!
I’ve been wanting to write this for a long time, but I first had to finished Season and Spice, as well as set up the reality that the couples from S&S and Ditsy Dogs actually know each other. It took a bit of time, but I finally got it done. Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out.
5) Paradise Lost - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45502916/ With 43 Favs and 2,889 Views!
This random story was just me dipping my toes back into human x furry content, but I was feeling a bit ‘mean’ at the time so I bullied the hell out of the furry alien girl in this story with kinky shit.

Cecil and Miranda proved to be quite popular this year! I didn’t really expect this pairing to take off as well as it did, but I’m quite glad for it.
2) I’m the BEST! (Nude) - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/48435687/ With 160 Favs and 1,100 Views
I have an unhealthy love for Roxanne Wolf, but I was only able to get one commission of her this year. Kamina1978 really knocked this pinup (and its alt versions) out of the park! She may not have made it to #1, but she’s still the BEST!
3) Tight Fit - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/46593961/ With 159 Favs and 984 Views
Mitsy got a lot of love this year in the form of art, and quite a bit of her commissions did really well, so MOJO’s attempt at her doing this well isn’t a surprise to me at all. There’s nothing better than a girl bursting out of her top.
4) A State of Affair - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/48644141/ With 156 Favs and 2,659 Views
One more Miranda and Cecil made it into the top 5! Most of the art with them did really well, as stated before, but this and Guest Room really took the take, and its well-deserved!
5) The Beach Babe - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/46792316/ With 156 Favs and 1,271 Views
Another Mitsy makes it to the top 5! Consig did a great job with her in this one.
Give them all a look! Their respective artists work hard to bring them to life!
My takeaway from this is that 2022 did worse than 2021. I don’t feel that the art I posted was any less quality than what I posted last year, but the numbers are much lower for 2022 than they were in 2021, both in terms of favorites and view counts. Luck of the draw, I guess.
Regarding my stories, I think my fanfiction Star Fox: Ascension was a flop and is partly to blame for the lower favorites and views I got this year, as well as reduced growth on platforms like SoFurry, which is heavily driven my literary content. Ascension was not a pornographic series (the 12th bonus chapter notwithstanding) and that resulted in fewer people being interested. Consistent throughout the year of 2022 Star Fox did poorly in favorites and views with most chapters struggling to make it out the gate. 8 out of the 12 chapters I posted collected fewer than 10 favorites, and that’s adding together their numbers from both FA & SF. No one was that interested in reading it, and those that did weren’t compelled to click the favorite button or even share the story with others. It’s also depressing that the negative comments I received from a single disgruntled user outnumbered the positive comments I got from others.
Secondly, I think a lot of my traditional furry smut stories just didn’t do well either. I focused a lot on Interlewds to build up characters and foreshadow future stories and I completed Abigail Cartwright’s series of stories this year. Neither of these performed well. Abigail’s artwork tends to draw in the numbers but not as many people actually want to read about her. Adding to this, Season & Spice’s final chapter dropped, but it’d been so long since chapter 7 (and it was part 8 of a long series). I don’t think anyone felt invested enough in S&S to try reading a finale to a series that’s a few years old, or if they’d never read the series to begin with, they weren’t interested enough to read chapter 1 through 7 so that they could in turn read the newly posted final chapter.
The only things that actually did good this year for writing where cheating, cucking, and swinging. Pulling Weeds (cheating), Friends Forever (pseudo-cheating/cucking), Flame Forged (cucking), A Certain Kind of Swing (swinging/partner swap), and Animal Crossing (pseudo-cucking). That’s all anyone wanted to read this year, and in my more pessimistic moments I wonder if that’s all I’m good for. The rest of my content was either SFW (Star Fox) or more wholesome/vanilla (Romantic Purrsuits, Season & Spice, the Interlewds).
2022 may not have been as good as 2021, but here's to a good 2023!
