Yearly New Year Renewing.
So I'm a mostly full-time locksmith now. Work exhausts most of my creative energies. It exhausts the regular energies too. It's basically a retail job. Imagine if your waiter/waitress also had to cook your food on top of taking your order too. Also while trying to make sense of what it is you'd like/ need to eat. It's really not a bad job. Just can be really frustrating not being able to sit down for a break when I need to. My legs hurt everyday. Did get to go to Phoenix last spring for an automotive locksmithing trade show. Unfortunately it looks like it was going to be the last one that group will have. Boss does a presentation every year about the history and workings of sidewinder keys and locks.
The white car is nearly ready to go again. It got a replacement transmission and a new gas tank. It has been down for the last 3 years. I had to steal its gas tank and carburetor to put on the red car after it rusted a leak. The poor red car now is at 203 thousand miles, and is 42 years old now. Red car also leaks when it rains, and has large holes in the floor boards. It's in really rough shape and is deserving of its coming retirement.
While the white car is far from perfect, cars I fit in at all are quite hard to find. That Nissan NV 200 looks to be a ideal-ish vehicle for everyday use and maybe for working out of. They discontinued them in '19-20 unfortunately. i could maybe make an Econoline work, but that's an even larger vehicle than my cars. I have enough problems working my car in the parking lot here at home.
The little brother is now extra homeless. His car that he was living in got towed of for being inoperable. Dad tried to get it started and even offered to tow it to the farm for repair. No one has any clue what to do with him. He seems to actively choose the wrong thing every time. As far as i understand he potentially had the chance to grab things from the car before it got towed, but he did not. He's down to what he was wearing. I've been going to Al-Anon because It tears me up thinking about him. Sometimes I can't manage to take care of myself.
Hopefully there can be some art for 2023. I have a new computer that I've not jumped to yet. I don't like change. It's a Win10 pc and my current is Win7. I also need to find a Photoshop style program to work from. I have no problem giving Adobe money, but it looks like you have to keep giving them money on a subscription basis.
