It's never easy to do, even if the pain is proof of all the good times that were had, for if there weren't all those cherished memories, then saying goodbye wouldn't come with tears. Memories I could ramble on about for a long time. From the games we played, to the tricks she learned, to even some of the singular memories that, for one reason or another, stuck with me. Memories that will hopefully last a lifetime, for I pray that I never forget (on a somewhat related note, one of my greatest fears of old age is the loss of memories as my mind begins to fail). And as much as I hate to say this, for it kind of undermines the love I've had for them all, but I feel I can confidently say that she was the best dog I ever had, and can't imagine ever having a better one in the future. Her unwavering determination, and her sweet affection, and how she opened my heart to her despite the fact that I really didn't like her very much when we first got her; a feeling of spite over me thinking that we got her too soon after losing our previous dog, which one evening some weeks after she came into our lives, she shattered with her unconditional love.
