I hate when I find out the other's face, because then talking to him becomes completely different. You know the other one IS a person, rather than a MSN/AIM/IRC contact.
It also gets difficult to RP, especially for the spiciest ones.

I respect your opinion on the matter, but I personally adore finding out what people look like in real life, and sometimes the only way to do so is via a photo, as I don't get to go to that many cons!

I feel extremely uncomfortable talking to someone online without knowing what the other person looks like before-hand. The fact that I don't RP under any circumstances probably helps, as I don't give a piss if the person on the other end is ugly as sin, or hand-crafted by Michaelangelo himself, because I won't be type-fucking with them anyway! 8D

So far today I've found out what a lot of people look like, and I love it! I can finally put a real face to the online name I've known for so long :]

Good point, but there's a way of going about it. Want to find out? Ask the person for a photo. This meme shoves it right in watcher's faces. People aren't watching me for human me, so I'm not going to assume they want to know what I look like out of suit.

yes it's good to not have to know what the others look like. I understand the need to do this but I do agree that it is stupid.

I'm surprised it bugs ya, since you've been to so many cons. I've been to just one, so every time I see a photo of someone I've gotten to know online, it comes as a bit of a shock. Nobody EVER even slightly resembles their character.

Come to think of it, few people I've met have the same personality as their characters either.
