Bobkitty started a thread over on twitter with advice for those new to art.Advice for New Artists
It's solid advice and I'm sure there will be more replies from others over time with some other advice.
I've also added a reply thread with my own advice, mostly things that have helped me relearn to draw with my non dominant hand, but still just as helpful to new artists.
