Cute. Of course, most cities don't have their own local dragoness to help do dedications. She probably considers the financial district to be part of her personal hoard anyway.
oddly enough the hoard idea didn't occur to me when I wrote it. must have been channeling Smaug somewhere in my murky subconscious. I like it, though. "Please climb down off of Wall Street." "No, it's mine." Every city should have a personally macro, though... ^^
Oh, agreed on that. Just think of the tourist revenue.
Though now I'm pondering some sort of reality TV show hijinks for the audition process as to who gets to hold which city. "Why did I get stuck with Detroit?"
(I was involved in an RP session years ago where my big skunk girl Sara was fighting for the position of being essentially the shaman to the spirit of New York City. Was fun.)
Awesome! Yeah, do the reality thing. Hope you were gentle with NYC. I need a place to go when upstate gets too rural for me.
Reminds me of the SCA Pennsic War, quote: "One day, almost 30 years ago, Cariadoc of the Bow, the King of the Middle, got bored with peace and declared war upon the East, loser to take Pittsburgh."
I was in Cleveland for a crowning (I wasn't in SCA, but managed to crash it because I was in the fencing class). I mainly remember it because there was a gal in jet black battle armor, looking way more awesome than a body has a right. Snapped my little head around in a heartbeat.
I already have far more ideas than time or energy to do anything with them. Gah. I really should consider doing something like your 'random rants' bit, just write down the silly little ideas even if I have no intention of doing anything more with them. Part of my problem is that I've got a serious world-builder streak in there which sometimes makes the writing take longer.
Oh yeah, I was gentle. After all, NYC is a city that lives by its Port at least as much as its financial district, and ports aren't much good if you scare away all the shipping. Besides, Sara always likes building stuff more than tearing it down, even if the tearing down part is sometimes needed to do the building part right.
I was never in the SCA either, but knew several people who were, so I heard bits and pieces of stories of what was going on. Sounded fun, I just never had the free time to be properly involved what with everything else I've had going on. And yes, some people put a lot of effort into their armour... and themselves, obviously.
And since Sara wears power armour... *snicker* I'm already getting a picture done of her with somebody else small tucked inside her power armour with her. Aieee, more ideas...
A smarter writer than me would mine the stuff I've scribbled out for real stories. That's part of the logic behind packaging them into the PDFs, "here you go, world. surprise me." So, yeah, you should write out the little things. It's fun, if only from a, "holy cow, I finished something!" pov.
Bless you for making NYC better. Could spend a lifetime on that project. Also, bring on the power armor!
And yeah, making any big city better is going to be a long-term project, as well as a race against the stuff that's falling apart because somebody cheaped out a couple of generations ago.
Thanks! I had one comment, "nobody told the people in the building this was happening?" To which I replied, "well, yeah!" I'm pretty sure this is how city bureaucracy normally works...
Honestly, even if they were told that it was happening, I suspect that when it was happening was entirely up to the whims of the dragoness in question.

don't get me started on infrastructure or I'll cry... >.<
