People are certainly free to date whoever they want and hold any sexual preference. I wish people in general would be more open to the possibility of dating trans folk, I guess, but other than that I don't have many opinions on the subject.

For a lot of people in the world, trans advocacy is a relatively new thing to them. Perhaps as time progresses, these numbers will change.

I'm of the opinion that its the personality that matters rather than the gender. E.g. if someone is horrible, I would never date them.

I would definitely agree with you that personality is the number one consideration in terms of a potential date or a potential partner. But personality being the number one quality that a person must have fallen in at least reasonably good alignment with doesn't invalidate the fact that there are certain physical aspects that I would require in a partner. People don't have sex with just their personalities. They also have sex with their bodies. Some people might find this particular arrangement relatively ambiguous, but if I'm in a position where I'm about to be sexual with someone and there's a vagina in the equation, the encounter is going to come to a very rapid end. Some people might say that this is a very transphobic position, but it's not like I'm really making an active choice in what sexual anatomy a potential partner must have in order for me to continue with an interest in participating. It's not like I was presented one day with a list of choices that I must forever embed myself with. There was never a time in my life where I was presented with an option of liking one over the other or liking both.

That is a good point. Its hard to get aroused when you can't get attracted to a gender your genes aren't coded towards. And you can't exactly change your DNA for that.

It's not the gender in this case. If it's a pre-op or non-op trans man, I might get along fine personally, but there will be a problem with physiology/genitals that I'm not going to be able to get past.

I've never been on a dating site as I've been with my partner for 25 years. But I can tell you that Christian mingle is not a place that I would go to to find a partner because that would be the type of website where I'm most likely to find an very incompatible set of scenarios.
