LCROSS, water found on Moon.
Remember back about a mouth or so ago, NASA lunched a satellite into the moon? Yes and that hype caused by it? Some news stations that reported it were talking about why the hell NASA was bombing the moon for water. Not to mention some of the disinformation that came along with it. Then came that tiny plum which, almost nobody could have seen it on earth do to the plum's small size and perceptive of the moon viewed from Earth. Well some images were found by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter probe (LRO), which is orbits the moon, and toke a snapshot of it the morning of the impact.
If you are wondering why the google name is all watery with the moon in the centre, and a plum in it. It is because scientist at work on the LCROSS mission have been working hard to analysis the images from LRO, for one, and other instruments used on the satellite to verify that the moon has water. Yes, they have found that water does exist on the moon.
Why is water important? Well for one we drink it and it is essential for us to survive, we can separate the water so we can use it for fuel and use it to breath which is obviously just as important. ( http://www.metacafe.com/watch/74764.....en_and_oxygen/ ) This may lead to possibilities of a colony on the moon, which can be a pit stop for astronauts in the future to vacate before they travel to Mars.

Hopefully NASA can secure the funding to apply their findings by sending in a follow-up impactor or a drilling lander.
