JOURNAL START
Hi. I wanted to offer explanation for the slow content. A few months ago the ganglion cyst that had been developing in my drawing wrist got bad enough that drawing was becoming painful. I tried to push through it and see if it'd go away but my phys therapy doc told me it was a direct result of drawing microtraumas and I should look into treatment for any hope of it going away.
I did, and I decided I didn't want to pay more into the american medical system but the VA was taking way too long to approve me at the local VA location.
I fell into a deep depression because it felt like my livelihood was at risk. My only fear is damage to my drawing arm. So I haven't been doing my work and I have yet to send out Patron gifts this month.
I'm sorry.
The good news;
I did my research and I carefully treated the cyst myself a few days ago using suitable medical equipment I have on hand over cam to my friends. KEK. I've been letting the remaining fluid disperse for a few days but my wrist mobility is back to normal and there's no longer as much pressure on my median nerve and I can draw without discomfort.
I will do my best to make up for the last few months and I will have Patron gifts sent out soon.
That said, because I have not been able to draw, I've fallen very behind on my bills and I have entirely relied on my Patrons to get me through this until I was able to do smth about it.

[It no longer matters when you sub, patreon charges you properly every 30 days.]
I do still need help making up for barely any work as a result of the wrist.
I am not asking for donations. That's why I offer patreon if you'd like to help me. You get things in return for it as thanks.
Also, my bday was on the 10th. It was chill hanging with my friends. I did a stream on https://picarto.tv/smooshkin and did some giveaways for merch. I hope you'll join me next time!
Other ways you can support me are by following me on my twitter(s), Toyhou.se, etc. ^^ Thank you so much for taking the time to read this update.

u deserve the best and the time to be able to draw and heal and keep producing your art, you have one of the most unique styles ive seen and seeing your stuff is such an honest pleasure
I got upset with it hurting and slammed it into a table
Instant relief
I'm glad you're in a better position. I know how it feels. I'm a mechanic and trying to shove my hands into tight places and having it constantly rub and poke metal objects. Really Sucked lol. Just be careful as it can come back. The sack is stretched out and can heal itself Causing the pocket to reform
Yes, I'm aware. I am comfortable draining it myself again if it does come back
pls don't worry, I have paramedic training from time served in the military, I'm very careful. I can and likely will do it again.
I recommend you with an outstretched palm and your hand gently back towards you do very gentle wrist exercises regularly.
Imagine palm facing outward fingers towards you not enough to feel any strain and just gently wiggle your wrist left to right as if you're doing a lazy wave at someone.
Avoid bending your hand back and forward a lot as you'll basically be inflating the injury with synovial fluid. The wrist I had treated they drained this out and put an injection in and it took a lot longer to heal than just exercising and resting it. It just suddenly went away on its own at one point.
Consider getting a stabilizing wrist brace with plastic or metal to force yourself to rest your arm for several hours a day or even night-time protection if you sleep weirdly.
Try drawing more from the arm than the wrist to avoid RSI angles, avoid having your hand bent down and doing finger-pinching motions as this strains the back of your wrist extremely.
I know this feeling. I suffer from Meralgia Paresthesia. I'm sure the pain is different, but I can say without a doubt that physical therapy WILL help you (if it's not totally cured.)
Admittedly, I am not all that knowledgeable on cysts in the hand, but if it has or had any lasting effects, it might be worth looking into.
It will be painful therapy, should you do so, but the pain is a sign that it is slowly working. Just be sure to take it slow and do not overdo anything with
the use of your hands/wrist/elbow. People like to assume that pain in an area is only in that area, when really it could derive from further down the appendage.
It's all connected, really. It might take a few months, or maybe a few years (which sounds abysmal, I know) but you'll be so glad when you start to notice
even an inkling of relief.
Perhaps it will completely remedy itself by what you've already tried, which would be nice.
It is incredibly frustrating to be an artist and have the inability to draw comfortably. Whether it's legs, hands, eyes, or anywhere else, pain makes work almost intolerable,
especially something like art that requires not only passion, but focus. I'm sure your audience understands. Artist's are only human, not machines. We are allowed sick days.
Hope things improve for you, I am sure they will.
Similar to radiating pain, a lot of my physical symptoms are a result of the greater problems in my life living in this country which will hopefully be solved within the next couple years.
Thank you for taking the time to chat desu, I always admire your work!!

I do hope you get well soon!
but are supposedly most common in artists and musicians who do fine motor activities a lot. >< I hope you were able to get yours treated?
Keep taking care of it and yourself - glad things are on the mend!
i pretty much need to wear wrist braces 24/7 now which sucks (big fabric braces in a hot climate = sensory hell) but it means i get a degree of (manageably painful) use outta my hands on the daily, and have been learning to paint for a couple years now
i found this video on a bad day and it has given me a lot of hope: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEc-tAmbdzk it's prompted me to very slowly catch up on a lifetime's worth of stretches to try correct my dreadful posture and find antagonistic exercises for my Drawing Hunch lol. there's a long road ahead, but i feel like it's helped with some pain in the short term.
i hope you've found relief and you never have to think about these bastard cysts again! it's amazing how much grief such a little pocket of fluid can cause.
And though belated, I hope you had a happy birthday and your live will stay that way!
