Sonic Prime is not for beginners

What can I say? Well... it was a bit of a strange experience. It wasn't bad, but I can't say that I was very excited about what I've seen either. Maybe it's because I'm almost 4 decades old and I'm still waiting for something from a franchise that has clearly changed its target audience.
It's good to see another Sonic animated series, and the idea of a "multiverse" is quite attractive for a franchise like this, but since I saw the first concept arts I realized that things would not be as many of us would have wanted. We wouldn't see Sonic interacting with his versions of Sonic X or Sonic Boom. As fantastic as this sounded, I think many of us were aware that it was too good to be true.
So, let's get to the point. The series presents us with its own multiverse, which is still interesting, but here's the problem: The series assumes that you already know the characters and introduces them all abruptly, leaving very little time to empathize with them. This makes the "multiverse" uninteresting, because if you don't know the original characters well, the existence of an alternative version of them loses its fun.
Surely this is not a problem for you, because you must have tried some hedgehog games or seen one of his series or comics. You must have some knowledge of the franchise and this allows you to enjoy the multiverse that Sonic Prime raises, but if this is your first contact with the blue hedgehog, I think you won't enjoy it as much.
The series will not only introduce you to a multiverse with variants of characters you don't know, but it will also constantly bombard you with flashbacks, which have the function of explaining the situation of the protagonist and his relationship with the other characters.
At least from my point of view, this way of telling the story is a bit convoluted. If it wasn't for the fact that I know the characters from the franchise, I wouldn't have enjoyed this series. Luckily, I do know them.

Qué puedo decir? Pues... fue una experiencia un poco extraña. No fue mala, pero tampoco puedo decir que quedé muy emocionado con lo que he visto. Tal vez sea por que ya tengo casi 4 decadas de vida y aún sigo esperando algo de una franquicia que claramente ya cambió de público objetivo.
Es bueno ver otra serie animada de Sonic, y la idea de un "multiverso" es bastante atractiva para una franquicia como esta, pero desde que vi los primeros concept arts me di cuenta de que las cosas no serían como muchos hubieramos querido. No veríamos a Sonic interactuando con sus versiones de Sonic X o Sonic Boom. Aunque esto sonara fantástico, creo que muchos éramos conscientes de que era demasiado bueno para ser verdad.
Entonces, vayamos al grano. La serie nos plantea un multiverso propio, lo cual no deja de sonar interesante, pero he aquí el problema: La serie asume que tú ya conoces a los personajes y te los presenta a todos de forma abrupta, dejando muy poco tiempo para empatizar con ellos. Esto hace que el "multiverso" sea poco interesante, pues si no conoces bien a los personajes orignales, la existencia de una versión alternativa de estos pierde su gracia.
Seguramente esto no es un problema para ti, pues debes haber probado algunos juegos del erizo o visto alguna de sus series o comics. Debes tener algún conocimiento de la franquicia y esto te permite disfrutar del multiverso que plantea Sonic Prime, pero si este es tu primer contacto con el erizo azul, yo creo que no lo vas a disfrutar tanto.
La serie no sólo te va a introducir a un multiverso con variantes de personajes que no conoces, sino que tambien te va a bombardear constantemente con flashbacks, los cuales tienen la función de explicar la situación del protagonista y su relación con los demás personajes.
Al menos desde mi punto de vista, esta forma de contar la historia es un poco enredada. Si no fuera por que conozco a los personajes de la franquicia, yo no habría disfrutado de esta serie. Menos mal que yo sí los conozco.
