Edit submission thumbnail?

Hey in my most recent upload I consider it one of my best works but I realized looking over it today that it has a pure black thumbnail as that's the first frame. I tried editing submission thumbnail in various ways so that it is a frame in the actual animation. However it doesn't seem to work no matter what I try, does anyone know how to get it working? And if the option literally doesn't work do you think I should try deleting it and reuploading it with a custom thumbnail? As I think THAT works at least thanks to my couple of writing stuff, though maybe I'm wrong and art can't have custom thumbnails? If so that would suck for my animations as I want most to start and end in a similar way...
Writing-type submissions are allowed to have custom thumbnails and I want to say Flash-type can as well. Maybe other kinds work as well, but I'm unsure. These types of submissions will show up with the proper thumbnail in peoples' submission boxes for watching you and on your main gallery + user page.
What SEEMS to happen for submissions that aren't writing/flash is that the thumbnail is only applied to the tiny gallery of your submissions when you're currently viewing one of your submissions... which is kinda lame.
Maybe it does work. I keep seeing people screaming that it does but it never did for me despite doing exactly what they said :/
Still sucks though especially as I want most of my animations to start and end in a similar way... I love a cartoony black circle that closes around me as it ends and I want a similar effect in nearly all my animations especially as I can make a perfect loop with it! But it seems to be like a bad idea if it is just going to cause a black preview on FA... unless I get creative.
