Sign your work, please!!

Hey y'all, this is just a reminder that if you're an artist, you need to protect your work by either signing it or putting your handle on there, in the event that someone decides they want to take your artwork and post it as their own. If you want to be REAL protective you could edit the copyright metadata using Adobe Bridge (it's easy, just YouTube or Google it).
I just saw a person try to lift some art from FA and post it on DeviantArt and noticed that it wasn't the original artist, just some person who thought the art was cool and decided it was theirs. They were pretty quick to take it down after I called them out, though.

Not only does it protect your work from thieves, it helps people find it when it inevitably gets reposted somewhere without a link, too often people find art they love and can't find it using reverse image searching

True and even though obviously getting your art stolen isn't ideal, if your account name/handle is on there at least people can find your other work, even if it's obviously stolen.

Thanks for the reminder! Since I've been getting into drawing now, I'll need to remember this!

Yep! Art thieves sure are scum of the world, aren't they? This is exactly why I convinced an old friend of mine to add a watermark to her work! So nobody could possibly steal it! :)

Well I had the feeling that this particular thief just didn't know any better (if the copious amounts of Bluey screenshots they also posted was any indication), so I was *nice* about it, but the artist still deserves credit. Four-year olds, amirite?

Right indeed, but it's hard to tell who 'steals accidentally' or who does it with malicious intent. Either way, thievery is wrong.
