Every year since, what, the 1970s or so, right? Its been a Palm Sunday tradition on ABC, showing Cecille B. Demille's masterpiece "The Ten commandments" featuring Charlton "If I only had a rifle" Heston and a cast of literally thousands.
Its got a lot of great scenes, one of my favorites has to be after the Passover, and all the Israelites are told they can leave and you see this HUGE caravan of men, women and children of all ages, riding horses, or plopping a bunch of belongings on oxen and ass, filling up carts and carriages with boxes and barrels, a lot of people singing and rejoicing and shouting and laughing as they all start out of Egypt AND NO ONE REMEBERS TO BRING A FUCKING MAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a nutshell, it only took a couple of years for God to guide them from Egypt to the Promised Land. But then the Israelites blew it, and the 40 years of wandering in the desert was their punishment.
By the end of the 40 years, the older generation (who had been the ones responsible for blowing it), had died of old age, and the younger generation finally got to enter the Promised Land.
They make him come off like a 6 year old child who absolutely must get his own way.
Go that way. Really slowly. if something gets in your way, TURN.
