Okay... Here is my hypothetical question...
If you were trapped in a basement or storm cellar or as a EF--5
tornado was approaching...
... Who would you want to be with you... and what would you both do?

Nobody I care about should be anywhere near those conditions, no matter how safe that shelter is. They can come in later to pick up the pieces. I'd stick it out on my own rather than share the risk.
Those I don't care about (as in wish them failure, not just apathy) shouldn't be in shelter -- they should be outside, unprotected as the disaster bears down on them. (There are very few people I think should endure that. So few I can't name any offhand.)
