Does it have to be a day? If you're looking for advice, I think a three day period for submissions would be better, and then you take all the submissions and pick the ones you want to do.

For your own sake, I'd also reccomend not looking at the submissions until after the three days, so you have them all and don't have weird internal arguments about wanting to do this one but another better one came in after...

I usually check FA every day, but don't always see what is in front of me.

Another thing you can do is announce when you're going to open ahead of time, so people can prepare to submit.
