I made a Redbubble!
2 years ago
Hey everyone, so I made a redbubble a week ago and started adding my designs.
Within one week, redbubble introduced new fees to target low income sellers.
Lower income sellers like me will have half the money we'd normally be given now, making it much harder to grow.
Instead of cracking down on fake accounts and art theft, they've gone the lazy route and started choking their newer or lesser known sellers.
This is a pretty common thing for a large company to do, as it's less work but will make them more money.
The best way around this is for me to move up to a higher tier account, this can happen by;
gaining followers, having traffic, making sales and getting good reviews.
Even if you're not in a place to buy stuff right now, giving me a follow would be a big help!

I'm gonna be adding more of my designs in time, so keep an eye on it!
Thanks so much.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency on who gets a higher tier account, unfortunately. I've seen on both reddit and Twitter artists who make over a hundred $$ in sales and they still got put into standard, meanwhile a bunch of us who make nothing and don't get alot of traffic got put into premium. Also at any point they can re-evaluate and change your tier back to Standard. I really wish Redbubble was more transparent about how it worked, but it just seems like they're hurting artists in general and not actually going after new/less profitable accounts.

It's a shame as well, since I only just started my account.

I have sold a handful of things in years on there but got premium, lol. They also already take a huge markup. Their basic t-shirts are like what 17GBP? They are already taking a cut from that alone, surely, their t-shirts are cheap trash. It is pretty disgusting behaviour. If only big companies could stop fucking their creators constantly.

It's very random, I'm planning to directly ask for premium and pressure them haha.
